Are those performance wheels a dealer installed option or they come from the factory like that?

They are a factory option.

They are forged 19x9 Rays...very similar to the 370z Sport Pkg wheels - different finish.

Thanks!

19 x 9.0-inch, RAYS super-light forged aluminum-alloy wheels with 245/40R19 front and 265/35R19 rear summer performance tires.

Its an $1800 option that includes a spare and jack - items not standard!

Beautiful car, great color choice. Mazda 6 engineers seem to be huge Q50 fans as well.

Yes - those are the specs. Interesting that the tires are 'staggered' but the wheels are a square set-up.

And price of the wheel option isn't bad in my opinion. You get the forged Rays, RE050's, and the spare and jack

Well - on the Q50 forum...it is different...

By the way - this forum is far more active. I am sure the Q forums will become more active as time passes....

Thanks!

The rims are square but the tires are staggered?

Its nice that they up the tire width. I sometimes feels like the stock 18" sports wheels on the sedan needs more tires, especially in the front.

When I first started following this forum, I thought the place was populated by posers and lease-my-car wannabees talking about tint and 20"s. However, six years later and the car feels like its in its sweet-spot for an enthusiast following.

Essentially, the forum is for you something proportional to what you put into it.

I now remember reading that the spare & jack were extra, probably the wave of the future

Nice job Malbec on choosing that wheel pkg. Couldn't buy a new set of lightweight forged for that price, let alone the tires that they come with.

Interesting to know that they're a square 9" set with staggered tires, bet you're liking those aggressive 265s out back

After several test drives, I wanted a particular car: Q50S w/Nav w/high perf wheel-tire but w/o deluxe touring (read: no DAS). I have to say - the 'S' in the Q feels like a different vehicle (compared to the non-S). The difference seemed to be greater than the G S-vs-Non-S...but that is just one opinion.

They had to get the car from Louisiana. I must admit - I love it more than I thought I would. I went for Moonlight White on Stone (BIG difference from Black on Black!). It has a few accessories as well: welcome lighting, ambient lighting, & splashguards.

Initial impressions: they have really changed the throttle mapping (at least in 'standard' mode - haven't played with sport, eco, nor snow). Throttle tip-in is far, far smoother. The trans shift logic has also been much refined. Interior feels roomier - sport seats wider. Electronics are way different. Sound system sounds more 'full'. Handling - feels just as flat if not more confident in the few situations I have thrown at it.

Anyway - I'll still be floating around here on occasion. This is still a great board.

Here are a couple pics...

Thanks all!
Malbec, I concur with your assessment of the Q50 with regard to handling. I've only driven the non-S model when I've had loaners from Grubbs but I think it's still an improvement IMHO over my car. The handling is much more flat and neutral than the G. The trans shift logic is definitely improved. I did notice in the non-S model that they've made the final drive ratio taller (numerically smaller) and that hurts off the line acceleration ever so slightly but is good for maybe a 1mpg bump on the highway. I'm not sure if that is the case for the S model though.

The car definitely feels wider. I'm a tall guy and have broad shoulders so I appreciate that aspect. It looks wider and lower as well which makes for a more aggressive stance. I drove an M37 a few years ago and it was too big. I felt dwarfed by M37 but the Q50 is the Goldilocks when it comes to interior space.

I think the UI on the infotainment system is a hot mess. As someone with years of experience with intuitive UI's, this is anything but intuitive. I suppose it takes some getting used to, but the NAV system in the G works just like you think it should in most cases with no need to consult the manual. With that being said, even the clunky UI would not prevent me from getting a Q. I can only hope for some revisions in '16.

Congrats on your new purchase and enjoy!

^^You're saying the q50 non s had better handling than your 2010 g37s? When you say more flat and neutral, what do you mean? The G's handling is twitchy, uncertain, non confidence inspiring?
