"OEM" mods

I am looking for easy and effective "OEM" mods that I can do to a g37x sedan. What I mean by "OEM" is using OEM infiniti parts such as better parts from a g37 coupe to improve something that the sedan is lacking and such without going with aftermarket parts. I know some of the coupe and sedan parts are interchangable. Any recommendations?

Having the X model makes that more difficult for you. There's stiffer sport sway bars, but I don't know if they'll fit the X. Additional bracing in the front to make the body more rigid, but I don't know if it'll fit the X. Same with dampers and springs. Different Nissan or Infiniti wheels might give you a nicer look.

You can get the Infiniti Big Brake Kit (BBK), but you'll need bigger wheels to provide ample clearance. This can be rather expensive.

You can also get the Sport bumper...this will give a more aggressive look to the front end. Or you can get the Coupe's IPL bumper, but then you have to replace the headlights and grille I believe...so that gets really expensive.

I think you already know about the rear sway bar on the X as being rather small. that's an option, but in that thread, I brought up a question about oversteer.

The front bracing on the X is already stout, so getting the coupe front brace wil probably a step backwards...

I'm sure there's serveral others, but these stand out the most to me.

Oh yeah, sport seats...paddles shifters, and other accessories found on the Sport model can be added as well.

Yeah, the X makes it difficult, otherwise you could use 370Z suspension bits, like the shocks.

The xS coupe uses the faster ratio steering system.

The xS coupe does not have the faster ratio steering. This was exclusively offered on RWD models. They mention it in the bullet points highlighting the car, but if you look at the technical specifications, it clearly shows the AWD was not outfitted with this feature in any trim.

The IPL bumper for the coupe will not bolt on to the sedan no matter what supporting pieces you buy.

I added the larger RWD sway bar to my X coupe and it was a huge improvement. Definitely worth the small price to pick one up used. No oversteer at all.

The infiniti website says otherwise

I understand that and that is what I tried to discuss in my post. The Infiniti marketing section where you build the car states that it is an included feature, but the technical specification section written by (I'm assuming engineers) says it's not included, not even as an option (such as the sport package option) as this would be depicted by an open circle like it is for the RWD coupe.

I'm guessing it's going to be costly, difficult and most be told "might as well buy a RWD S" to add that sport tuned steering ratio on the X model?

Did you pick up a S coupe bar or a regular RWD sedan bar? I know rwd Journey sedan and rwd S Sedan use the same rear sways and the rwd journey coupe and rwd s/ipl coupe use different rear sways. I know the base rwd sedan rear sway is way better than the puny awd rear sway but I'm try to holding out for a S coupe/ipl coupe sway. If all else fails, I guess i'll go with the rwd sedan sway.

I was doing the same thing you are, holding out for a sport sway bar or IPL, until I read Brad's (blnewt) thread about how he upgraded from the RWD sway bar to the RWD sport sway bar and couldn't really notice a difference. That gave me the green light to save myself the hassle and go for the RWD non sport sway bar. I also went OEM over aftermarket since the aftermarket bars need regular maintenance (lube) or else they will squeal. Even though this isn't a huge deal, it was unappealing to me.

Seeing the % stiffer on compared to the hotchkis sways gave me the impression that the RWD S coupe sway was significantly stiffer than the RWD Journey coupe sways. I guess it's not such a big difference then. What lube should I put on the OEM sways if I buy the used bar?

Can you link me to that thread? Thanks

I upgraded to a BBK, added sport pedals, just bought an S interior, changed the light covers for a GTR set, OEM wheels from a G35 and am using some JDM parts. Oh, pardlesm GTR starter button Depends,on what you're looking for I suppose and what you're ultimately trying to accomplish.

What do you think the sedan is lacking?

The dome light lenses from the Nissan GTR are a direct replacement for your frosted lenses.

Genuine OEM equipment for $29.
