Test drove a 2012 G37Xs today

Hi guys,
So today was a good day; Took the wifes MDX to get service for a emissions light at the acura dealer- they found a bad cat. Luckily they said its covered under extended warranty. They gave me a new RDX loaner to go to lunch and kill some time as the job took a few hours.

So I head to the Infinity dealer down the road to look at a 2012 G37Xs, silver, black leather with 19K miles. Looked sharper in person. The sales team and management were so great and friendly.

I took it for a test drive, came back we talked a bit... It was weird. I loved how it handled, loved the performance- but it felt too small inside to me. Im only 5'8", i work out, and im a little on the broader side, maybe it was my jacket too that made me feel stuffed-? So I had the urge to drive it again- the salesman said definitely lets go back out!

So we went on a second quick drive- still liked the car- but I didnt like how tight it felt, or how the transmission was so jerky- I didnt check if It was in sport- I just put in drive (is there a sport setting?)

The rear leg room looked super tight too. I dont carry my wife and kid alot in my car, we use her cars on the weekends for beach trips, family trips etc..

I left $100 deposit, but Im thinking i like the TL SHAWD better, as even if it feels slower off the line, it drives smoother, feels wider, and more open inside-feels quick enough, and the layout and ergonomics of the buttons even the nav/radio wheel is in the right place.

Strange as something inside of me still likes the G enough to say, screw it- and buy it because its badder. Kind of like an ex that treated youbad that you would always take back haha!

Also, they were asking a little high- $31500. Tires looked low in tread. But overall the car looked new. Ive seen comparable ones farther away for ~28000 range.

It was the sport seats in that xS that you're not used to.

Go drive a G without the sport seats... it actually makes a pretty big difference in how the car is perceived.

I would say test drive G37 journey - x or just RWD.

I've learned that 7at is hit or miss. Some shift smooth while other hunts for gears like crazy - but that can be easily updated by infiniti dealer, they should fix the problem.

G37 is much more bad *** than TL.

..... and do not pay 31k for 2012 g37xs with 19k. It's should be below 30k. Those dealers try to make as much money as possible.

I'm sure you know that - never pay sticker price for used vehicle. If you decide to go for that G, try to negotiate hard with them and be ready to walk away if they won't go below 30k.
Please remember that value of G went down and there are great discounts for brand new Q40s.

Use Carguru to search for G37 deals.

+1

At first I was concerned that maybe the sport seats fit too snug. But after a couple weeks, I got use to them. Now I would say they are the benchmark for future seats.

I would say drive a Journey and see if you like it. The S package on the AWD car is just visual stuff, so you wouldn't be missing out on much.

Do all S cars have the handbrake and not the pedal parking brake, or is that just the 6MT cars? I noticed when I was in Paratroopers car that the center console area seemed larger without the handbrake.

Just the 6MT. The 7AT console is more balanced and upscale looking, IMO.

And while I approve of hand-brakes, ours is just a sissy little parking brake. No Rockford turns for us.

I bought a journey X and have been slowly (to me) adding parts. It's been a great car but I like it a lot more now that the suspension has been upgraded. The visual stuff is what it is I suppose but the pedals were a simple swap, bumper I haven't done, seats I'm working on.

There are times I wish I held out for a 6mt but the AWD launch makes up for that a bit. Add to that the AWD if I were to move and I'm good with where I'm at.

That is a little much for the car.... I just bought a 2012 G37xS myself with 37,000 miles for $23,9000. The car looks like it was well taken care of. Almost no scratches anywhere on the car. The front and rear bumper were in perfect condition. Inside the car was spotless........ Love the car. The seats are a little tight and hard but are much more comfortable on longer drivers than the regular seats. I just wish the suspension was a little harder and maybe the car 1" lower.

First you need to know how to spell Infiniti

We are a car forum not a audio speaker forum

I saw 2012 g37s with 20k miles, silver/black interior, for 23000. And I'm sure you could negotiate with them another 1000 or so.
One owner, navi, moon roof, clean Carfax.
I'm going to get probably 2013 g37 when I move full time to florida over the summer.
There are plenty of good deals out there. I would never pay over 30000 for 2012 g37xs.

Driver, that's an Amazing value and deal you got. I'm surprised you think it doesn't ride stiff.. I thought the suspension was firm, closer to hard side.. Ride height look good to me.. And I come from cars I nodded with Eibachs and konis all the time.

I called and told them I'm at 28k... The sales manager called and said they can do 29500. I was polite and said thanks but it's too close to 2013 pricing.

Anyone else struggle alot like this? Am I being an annoying customer or am I on expressing I didn't want to spend 29500 on a 2012...

I also told them I'm still on the fence between that and the tl shawd.

Heracles,
Do not pay 28k. At this point it seems you screwed negotiation when you told them you are at 28k. They came back on you with counter offer of 29k which meant they are flexible. They know this car is overpriced.
You could told them that you saw 2012 g37s with low mileage for 23k and ask them what is the lowest they can go on this g37xs, then you could throw at them low offer of 23k or so and see what they come up with. But I guess it's too late now with this dealership.

That's g37s. I saw a few other 2012 g37s and g37xs with very low mileage for less than 25k
