Not cool...

I was browsing ebay the other night and noticed people selling these things called "roof fins". It's a small fins that come in a set of 8 or 10 and you just stick em on the roof...and i guess you can stick em on the sides of the front bumper aslo. I dunno how long these were on ebay but its my first time seeing these...and IMO, they are hideous! What u put and stick on your car is up to you but if anyone is planning to put these on your roof...please reconsider. What are your thoughts on these and what other accessories/mods do you think is not so cool?

those came standard on the STI's and if used properly, can redirect airflow to help with downforce. However, those are simply cosmetic and do absolutely nothing. Of course they are hideous, but a lot of people just want "the look" and dont really care about the actual intended usage.

We use those in the Northeast, during the winter. When the sun melts ice on the roof of the car, those fins break up the ice as it slips off, so it doesn't hurt anyone below.

I thought everyone knew about that.

The satellite radio antenna is a nice vortex generator. It noticeably enhances ability of air to follow curve of rear window. You can see that when the center of the window dries first after driving though rain.

Now, if only someone made a tall rear wing for us that could take advantage of said air flow improvement...

If you think about it, it's same as people who put diffuser on. It's supposed to be "functional" but mostly put on for cosmetics.
