I mean people can stretch and go out and buy an rs5 c63 m5 m6 etc and overextend themselves, people do it all the time, you could AFFORD the car itself. But maintenance is a big part of it and deep pockets or not I would think it's about spending money wisely. Do you know how much rotors alone on an m5 or m6 cost ? Oil changes that consist of 8-10 quarts of oil on those 8 cylinders etc. Why wouldn't you care about that ? Buying one of these cars new meaning financing one and owning it for a couple years within the warranty period is ideal yes, but 4, 5 years out when warranty is out and all the gremlins start popping their ugly heads then what. Just saying don't count the nissan guys out, lets see if pricing on the eau rogue is competitive. People hated on the gtr so much but look at what its done, pretty much destroyed all of the competition and for a reasonable price. The days of only german options are over and thats exactly what nissan wanted to do make an "affordable super car". Hopefully the eau rogue can live up.

Brother, I don't disagree with you. Its already been stated that the Q50ER is going to be in the low 100's new. Yes, all of those points mentioned are variables in picking out the right car for the budget. In my humble opinion, if I can justify spending that kind of money on a car then it means that I can withstand the incredible costs associated with owning the vehicle. This is kind of a moot subject for me anyhow. I couldn't afford the car even if it were priced @ $65K. LOL

I love Infiniti. I've had three over the past 8 years. I'm a loyal customer and only have my car serviced by Infiniti techs.

That said, if i had $100K to blow on a car, i really don't think i'd by an Infiniti - at least not THIS Infiniti.

I agree, if you have $100K to blow on a car, it shouldnt matter what the maintenance costs - you should be able to afford it. If you can't, you had no business buying the car in the first place.

Considering that there is not Official announcement of price and production, there is no way to answer this question. Also 10 years ago, no one would pay close to 100k for a Vette or GTR, now people are lining up to buy these cars because they have been proven to slay giants. On paper, the Eau Rouge is slated to continue that trend.

My biggest concern for this car is that it is not a ground up design. It's old school hot rodding--stuff the biggest motor in a smaller car. Watch the car and driver review video. They run through the parts list. It's cobbled together. Which is exactly what I am not looking for when buying a Japanese car.
Exactly what German cars have you driven that would give you that impression? Even Lexus build better quality cars than Infiniti. Don't believe me go sit in a IS and compare it to the Q50, same with any comparable model. Push on the dash in an Audi and it feels solid, same for BMW. Doors feel solid. Infiniti is wishful thinking at 100k. Think about this, 100K gets you a M5/M6, S6/S7, E63S all pretty loaded. Or you could have a Q50 with a body kit and a GTR engine.

Let keep it real folks but brand snob counts. Its the same reason why a Equus at 60k with similar content sells a fraction of cars compared to MB S class.

"Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen declared recently the high performance Q50 Eau Rouge could have a short two-year lifespan during which it will be built in a limited number."

My translation: Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge is Infiniti's side project to test the water. Since the production life of the GTR R35 is coming to a end. We want to know if we can milk the R35 engine a little longer. Selling the Q50 Eau Rouge at a limited number at first to see if the consumer would willing to pay for it. Worst case, kill it off in 1 or 2 years.

Quote from chris_s
"no my comment was because you compared the results of two vehicles doing something they weren't designed to do particularly well (drag race).

Both the GTR and LFA were built for road course action, neither of them is anything special in a drag race. It always kills me when magazines/reviewers/whoever take a super or grand touring or hyper car and run it down a 1/4 mile strip. I guess it's something that's pretty easy to do, but not a particularly valuable stat for showing what the car does well.

I think the GTR is (was) special because it was doing what the big guys were doing for a fraction of the cost. The cost is up substantially these days, so yeah maybe it doesn't have that edge anymore. I really doubt they'll be showing up in high school parking lots at any point, it's a hand built engine that requires a lot of very specialized maintenance, not a 1996 z28."

Not to start an argument or continue one, but...

That is one bad GTR. I wonder if the power is killing the chassis.

sure, and I could find a bunch of honda civics doing sub 10s passes, but that doesn't mean they were built for drag racing :P

I'm a die hard manual transmission kinda guy, so I'd pass. But I also dont have $100K laying around to spend on a car either
If I was interested in an Infiniti I'd know how to spell it.

That's why I took the INFINITI letters off the back of my car.
