The car battery is getting old and I think thinking about replacing it before it fails.

Wondering if I should just get one from Costco?

Or is there any lighter option that's worth the extra money?

The cranking is getting longer, I figure maybe its time to get a new battery before it completely quit on me.

I cant imagine even a 10-15 pound difference having a noticeable impact on handling, balance or anything else. It would be like noticing the difference in a 1/2 vs a 1/4 tank of gas.

I like going to costco too, so it would be any easy decision for me

Of course there are lightweight battery options out there. But are you willing to pay 30-100% more for a smaller, lighter battery with less cold cranking amps? I wasn't and Costco batteries were my choice...

I have a die hard platinum from Sears that looks like an Odyssey battery and I love it ...not particularly light though.

Found these you could try ,

Advance Auto Parts 35% off when you spend $50 or more
Advance Auto Parts [advanceautoparts.com]

use code WD36

ends 9/6

TRT41 has been working for a very long time now, as well as some more similar codes for lesser amounts.
And the core charge doesn't count towards the $100. You could always just add $9 worth of other stuff to get to the $100.

Other codes:

$20 off $50
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon Code TRT25

$10 off $30, $25 off $70, $40 off $110
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon Code A124

30% Off Any Order
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon TRT30

20% off Entire Order
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon Code P20

15% off your order
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon AAP15OFF

$20 off Orders of $75 or More
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon BIG20

$30 off $75 Sitewide
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon TRT37

$30 off orders over $80
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon RAF51112

$30 off $90
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon Code HUGE30

$40 off $100
Use Advance Auto Parts Coupon TRT41

Do your homework and get prices from multiple sources including the dealer.
There are different prices for battery ratings CCA, warranties, etc.
I always insist on a 750 CCA battery but 600 and 650 CCA ratings are cheaper. I also prefer a battery with vent caps so the individual cells can be tested with a battery hydrometer. If Costco batteries have date codes over one year old and are cheaper, I wouldn't buy from them.
If you plan on getting rid of your car soon then just get the cheapest battery.

I don’t know if your situation is the same as mine, but with my four year old battery I often go for 3-4 days without running the car. After a while there is noticeable slow cranking, as if the battery is about to fail. What I do then is put the car on my charger I bought at Pep Boys for about 6 hours until the charger display reads fully charged. After that I have snappy starts for at least 4 months, when I may have to charge the battery again.

I know I should probably replace the battery, but I’m afraid it may be the nature of the car and my driving habits to still have this situation even with a fresh battery.

I've been happy with my optima red top. Bit pricey but i got it for $50 off and free shipping on advancedautoparts. My wife has the yellow top which is better for deep cycling. Red top is best for G37 applications. Different cell construction than regular batteries which leads to greater durability.

Ditto Lego Maniac. Weight is negligible. I had an Optima yellow top in my old car and didn't think it was worth it. Just get one from Costco. I think it's up to 3 years hassle free replacement and they're the cheapest one you'll find.

Just got a Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size 24F to replace mine. I know online everywhere it says 35 series batteries but a 24F is what came out of my car(was a factory battery).
