Passenger airbag status light
Passenger airbag status light
I have a 2010 G37x sedan and am having some trouble with the passenger airbag status light (little light at the bottom left of the center console that says "passenger airbag"). Several times now, the this light has stayed on while my wife is sitting in the passenger seat, meaning that the passenger airbag is disarmed and won't deploy in an accident. As you might imagine, this is concerning.
I read the manual and think that either she is sitting weird in the seat or she is pulling the seatbelt out and triggering the "child mode" for placing a front-facing child or booster seat in the front passenger seat.
Anyone else have trouble with this light staying on while an adult passenger is sitting in the passenger seat?

I also made a thread about the same issue: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...ag-recall.html. As you said, it's very concerning.
IMO, Nissan/Infiniti is ignoring a possible safety defect in these cars. There are 2 things I think you should do. One, go to your dealer and raise hell. If they say it's operating normally (99% chance they will), call Infiniti consumer affairs and tell them your concerns. Second, go on the NHTSA website or call the hotline and file a complaint with the government. (and everyone else on this forum should do the same thing)

I've gotten it noted in my service records twice now that I had concerns with it. This last time I made them check that it was operating properly again and they claim it's my wife's seating position and that she doesn't weigh enough for the airbag to safely deploy. They claim unless she's sitting perfectly straight all the way back in the seat and legs 100% straight forward the sensor won't register her and won't deploy the airbag.
Just took my car to the dealer the other day for this. They came back and said it was working fine. That it was probably the way she was sitting at the time that triggered the light. Very annoying to hear from them since it happened more than once with my fiancé in the passenger side. Since I took it in it has not gone on.
