Yay or nay: shipping my car to FL.

Just got into couple grad programs in FL thus, should I ship my beloved G37S from California to FL? My program is only 8 months long but wondering pros v. cons shipping my car compared to buying a dd beater. Much obliged.

Why isn't driving it an option? Lease?

Neither. Drive it from CA to FL, it will be a great experience.

How much would your budget be for a beater?

How much would it cost to ship the car? FWIW, my sister in law and her family are moving from Cleveland to Charlotte and having a Honda Element shipped because said SIL is terrified of driving on the highway. They got quotes in the $500-$600 range.

I tend to agree with others, drive. If that isn't an option, I'd probably be inclined to ship the car vs picking up a 1995 Ford Aspire as a beater.

My first response was going to be road trip, but if you can't I've heard that http://www.reliablecarriers.com/ is a great company for shipping a car cross country. I knew a guy that used them to ship his '63 Vette to Cali.

$1100 to $1300 quoted for open trailer door to door delivery. I was thinking about getting used 06 350z. My budget is around $7500.

I would buy a beater then. Round trip you'll pay $22-2600 in shipping. A $7500 car won't depreciate that much in 8 months.
