when I purchased my G a couple of years ago I decided for the Elite Infiniti warranty $0 Ded 96mo/120k for under $1600

My G needed some work done last month worth about $ 4,500.....glad I had warranty

 

Like any type of insurance/warranty, it's only a good idea if paying for repairs out-of-pocket could be financially catastrophic (health insurance, for instance). With the G37's reliability record and parts costs, a huge repair bill is less likely than our Audi and BMW counterparts. If you have enough savings to be okay with an unexpected $2000-5000 repair, then it's probably not worth purchasing an extended warranty. Dealers would not sell them if they did not make a substantial amount of money from the policies. Even though the anecdotal stories of expensive repairs make it tempting, if you never purchase extended warranties on vehicles, the odds are in your favor that you will come out ahead financially in the long run. This also negates the chance that your needed repair might not be covered by the warranty or that coverage would be denied due to mods. I would only purchase an extended warranty if I could not afford to make an unexpected repair on my car.

 

Got this info today from the local INFINITI dealership. Note that this is a full Bumper-2-Bumper extension, not the Elite package. They're sending me printed materials to review in more detail.

 

I'm not getting the extended warranty. I don't see the need for it as the car won't be driven a lot ( 4yrs and only 13,000 miles so far). These cars are well built and I don't see a need for an extended warranty.

I bought my 09 with 77 000 km Canadian and bought the extended warranty now I have 126 000 km on it and so far I had to replace:
1-the cruise control sensor and had a new radio install the cost was
$11 000 tks God for the warranty

2- a new battery

3- the power steering is leaking will be getting the new part in a week

4- had to replace the fog light on my own and had to replace the rotors and pads, they were asking $700 to have the rear done, had my friend replace them for $150.

the valve stem cover are cracking and they're asking me $200 to replace just one???

5- Im waiting for that one or else I will trade it in lol

 

I've got no warranties.

Don't get me wrong. I'm currently researching an extended warranty, both online and in an ongoing discussion with my local dealership. And if under warranty, INFINITI offered to replace my old battery with a new one, then by all means, replace away.

But as far as being a convincing argument goes... LOL.

 

I forwarded Infiniti Elite Protection Plans | Infinity Car Warranty Maintenance Plan in response to these numbers, and was told, "If they can do it, then certainly we can, too." Curious to see where that goes.

I still have 1000 miles before tipping over 20,000.

 

I have an extended warranty, I think its the elite and sometime its hard for me to get service

 

Without going through what has already been said, here are some common issues that you should check for:

• Paint on trim around steering wheel scratches/peels off
• Edges of dash around instrument cluster (around the brightness buttons and the instrument panel lcd scroll buttons) warp and pull up
• Air conditioner blows warm at idle
• Transmission TSB software updates
• Dash material on sides of center console (by driver's right knee and front passenger's left knee) comes unglued and warps up
• Leather seat bubbles (where your butt cheeks sit, the leather on these cars stretches abnormally and leaves permanent "bubbles")
• Power door locks that squeak
• Any rattles, squeaks, or abnormal noises. Take drives over all road surfaces (highway speeds, city speeds, concrete, new asphault, old rough asphault, bumpy roads, potholes, put the vehicle on a slope to "twist" the chassis, etc.) with the radio and air conditioner off to listen for noises. One of the most common is the back deck (near subwoofer) makes a squeaking noise, which gets even worse when cold.
• Melting dashboard (park the car in the sun on a hot (95+) day... see if the dashboard gets sticky, shiny, or soft... some of the dash's in these cars are defective and will do that... eventually the condition will be permanent, even when not in hot sun)
• Gas cap plastic strings break off easily... if yours has broken have them replace it (although it'll break again)
• Rubber seal around sunroof cracks
• Any electrical glitches you've ever experienced

Although I described these issues as "common", keep in mind that they're "common among the minority", if you will. Most people won't have very many of those, so don't get too scared. The only thing you are almost guaranteed to have in this car are a few annoying squeaks/rattles/vibrations.

That's about all I can think of right now. Have a friend ride in the car with you and try to spot issues. Sometimes, things change so gradually that we become accustomed to it and, therefore, fail to notice problems early. Someone who's never ridden in your car can spot some things before you do. Also, anything you think is odd or suspicious, anything at all, complain about it to get it on record.

One thing people tend to complain about that actually isn't a problem is the loud engine clatter for about 15 seconds at cold start up that sounds like a diesel being run without oil. It's actually normal, and is a result of Nissan's VVEL system. Some oils tend to lessen the affect if it bothers you, but rest assured no damage is being done.

Mechanically, these cars are pretty darn reliable. I'd have complete confidence in your G going 200k+ miles without major incident. But interior trim wise, these are not up to typical Infiniti levels of quality. Some of the trim pieces and materials are poorly made or installed. So get any issues you might have with that stuff fixed.

 

Rochester: The local dealership told you that their B2B warranty was different from the Elite warranty? Sounds fishy to me. From what I've read, the only official Infiniti extended warranty is the Elite warranty, which essentially is the B2B warranty.

 

They're trying to sell me this product thru Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. I don't think it's the same thing as the INFINITI Elite Warranty. It's certainly more expensive.

I got a quote this week from LuxuryProtectionPlan.com, which are the identical numbers they gave riba89. I'm still thinking the 60mo/60k=$860 package is pretty attractive. Not sure if my car would qualify, in all aspects of the warranty review process, since I've been modifying it. Hmm.

Gotcha. Fidelity is a 3rd party warranty. I'm sure it's good, but if I'm paying for piece of mind, I'd rather pay a bit more for manufacturer sponsored piece of mind.
