question about extended factory warranty.

My original factory warranty expires on July and my dealership recommended purchasing extended factory warranty. Is is worth it? Has anyone purchase such? And if so, how much did you pay? I received following quotes:

3 years/ 36k miles for $2250
4 years/ 48k miles for $2750
6 years/ 60k miles for $3325

Much obliged.

I've never gotten one but the prices seem about right. You have to ask yourself a couple questions are you going to mod? If you are don't even consider warranty an option. How much do you drive? How hard do you drive it? Is it worth taking the risk of not having it. IMHO a Japanese car doesn't need it because the are about as reliable as it gets. If you want to get it just to be on the safe side go for it.

I just posted this on another thread, but it applies here, too: Like any type of insurance/warranty, it's only a good idea if paying for repairs out-of-pocket could be financially catastrophic (health insurance, for instance). With the G37's reliability record and parts costs, a huge repair bill is less likely than our Audi and BMW counterparts. If you have enough savings to be okay with an unexpected $2000-5000 repair, then it's probably not worth purchasing an extended warranty. Dealers would not sell them if they did not make a substantial amount of money from the policies. Even though the anecdotal stories of expensive repairs make it tempting, if you never purchase extended warranties on vehicles, the odds are in your favor that you will come out ahead financially in the long run. This also negates the chance that your needed repair might not be covered by the warranty or that coverage would be denied due to mods. I would only purchase an extended warranty if I could not afford to make an unexpected repair on my car.

Do these warranties come with a deductible?

I have never bought an extended warranty and never needed any work done that would cost that much.

My 2004 G35 ran like a top.
My 2011 G37 runs great.

Thanks guys. I decide against purchasing extended warranty for my G37. This is my 3rd Infiniti and its been rock solid. Definitely looking to purchasing another Infiniti in the future.

Great choice, just make sure you follow the service manual and you have a high chance of being issue free

Thanks nishfish871. As much as wanted the extended warranty, just couldn't justifying paying over $2k for it. At least, I still have my powertrain warranty.

When I bought my used G i did get an extended warranty for $1800 for 5ys 60k miles bumper to bumper. I was more worried about the electronics in the car than the drivetrain.
