Rear License Plate Issue

I went to replace my rear license plate frame with a new one and encountered a super annoying problem.

The right screw just turns in place, it will not loosen or get tighter. I am assuming a bolt (or plastic piece) has broken off on the other side, but I cannot find anyway to actually get to it without taking the bumper off...

I can't seem to get to it from under the car or through the trunk.

Any ideas/help would be great. Thanks!

If the rear frame is anything like the front on, then unfortunately there is no plastic bracket or thread on the other side. The screw threads directly into the plastic of the bumper. You seem to have stripped out the hole. Try a larger diameter screw and see if that holds. Alternatively, you could use a bolt and nut setup to hold it, but you would have to wiggle around behind the bumper, which could be difficult with the OEM exhaust.

Trey putting some vice grips or pliers on it and turn and slightly pull at the same time to remove.

As others have said - gently pull old bracket while unscrewing the bolt....theoretically that should work.
