Buying a Used G37x. Foolish or Not?

Hey there. I'm in the market for a used G37x, likely a '10 or an '11 model, depending on which dealership I choose to go with. Both vehicles look very well maintained, both inside and out, but each feature roughly 80k kilometers. My question to you all would be: is it a foolish risk to assume a G with 80k kilometers will still be a reliable vehicle? Just based on the car's capability I'm a bit loathe to assume that the previous owner didn't beat it up - at least a bit, and I'll be making an error in purchasing a vehicle that I would very much enjoy only to have it requiring constant maintenance to repair the previous owner's work.

If anyone has experience with used Gs, especially ones with relatively high mileage, you responses would be much appreciated.

I work at a Nissan dealer, I see z's & g's. The VQ engine will last forever, the other components...not as long as the engine.

Always get the lowest miles you can afford & search, I flew to Florida for my G37S & drive it back to MA. I was willing to fly to CA for the right one.

They may not have beat on it, older ppl looking for luxury, performance and a name drive them too & the engines can take a beating.

Do your research, get a carfax (they can be worth it) & trust your gut.

Good luck

I bought a '10 last year with 26 or 28k. A few issues but everything has been covered by the warranty so far.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything over 25,000 miles.

Unless the car is coming off a lease a used car with 25K miles would make me wonder why did they sell it. With a used car you also need to look at other factors such as how many owners did it have? I would feel more comfortable in a 1 owner vehicle with 50K-60K than a 2 owner vehicle with 25K-30K. Also car fax is great, but when the report mentions accident don't assume the worse.

I'm the original owner of my 09 G37S Sedan. Car has 58K miles and was involved in a minor accident about 3 months ago. The car has been extremely reliable, maintenance only, and the damage from the mild accident was only $1,200 to fix. Some people would pass on this car for the mileage and the car fax report mentioning accident. But those that don't would get a great used car. Only problem, I'm not selling nor do I plan to sell it any time soon. I still love my car and i love that it's paid for.

That mileage is about average given the year. It's not foolish to buy a car with that many miles. There's plenty of people on this forum with high miles that are still enjoying their cars with great reliability. It's always good to have a full service history though.

That being said, don't rush. They made plenty of these cars so there will be opportunity to buy low miles cars out there. I just found my 2010 with only 14k miles, for example.

From: Framingham Ma,
I just bought a 09 with 58k on it ( One owner) The price was right @$15,8! The car is in great shape, Minus having to complete the 60k and replacing rear links ( $180) I am very happy.
Also went the extra mile and have "in" at my local dealer and purchased the Premium wrap warranty for 5 year or 60k( Till 118k miles).

I have had my 2010 since new. it has 31,000 miles on it and just pasted the 4 year warranty period. I have had zero problems with the car. That's the reason I still own it and haven't traded it in yet.

This is such an old design that pretty much all the bugs have been worked out. I would not worry about driving one of these things to 150k+ miles.

I think the G37 is one of the best used car values right now. Great reliability record, which made me feel much more comfortable buying mine used (a 2010 G37x with ~25K miles at the time coming off a lease). With the price drop on the new G37s, the used prices should come down a little too. For the low-to-mid $20Ks you get an awesome V6 engine, great handling, xenon headlights, nice nav/radio screen, and a usable backseat. Only downside is gas mileage compared to newer cars and maybe the interior is starting to look dated. Compared to buying a new Mazda 6 for a few thousand more or dropping $20K more on a new Q50, BMW, or Audi, this was a no-brainer in my book.

I've had a 2012 G37 since new.... now that my lease is almost up I'm thinking of keeping it. 20k miles and never had a problem. I'm looking for info on best model years and potential problems. Any advice?

Bought 10G37 with 65,000 no problems so far! Car fax and a good dealership helps but it depends how you drive it after you get it.
