My Sunday Install
My Sunday Install
Alright so I spent all of sunday from 11 to about 930 putting on my intake, exhaust and test pipes. I went with the stillen gen 3 the still cat back as well as the berk test pipes. The sound is great cruising at 80 mph you almost dont hear anything over the tires evo v12 until you hit the gas. There isnt much rasp or anything from the test pipes either. I am throing a code and have already set up a tune session with a local tuner (martin from Zfever or now known as feverracing) to get the gear box reflashed as well as my set up retuned. I plan on also getting the M370 in a few weeks as well. Is there any cams out there for our cars? I know when I had my 04 Coupe they were hard to find. Or do we not need them? I have had the car for almost 2 years now and tried to now mod it just springs wheels and the z1 stage 1 brake upgrade now that mod bug has hit and trying to decide to do the right thing and go FI or just put a bottle on it. In the back of my head it would be cool to just do a true NA build just to be different. What should the next step be that im just not "throwing" money away atleast not to much, and just start to build the tranny and drive train to hold the power I will adventually make.
i want to build a n/a beast so this thread interests me.

Normally you would change camshafts to increase valve lift or modify the cam profile. I have not heard of anyone changing camshafts in a VQ ... we have software controlled intake lift and timing.
That was my thought. I thought the valve timing was electrically controlled. Maybe a new camshaft allows a more aggressive range of geometry?

I havnt found an intake cam the ecu controls that but there are exhaust cams out there I'm sure it won't be much power but the grm cans for the 700 bucs just to get the sound is worth it to me at idle. I will find out Tuesday when I go get tuned if it's worth it. I already know what I'm gonna be told and that stop being a baby and turbo it if you want power.
Out curiosity, could you find out what code you're throwing? I had a code P0128 cnf about 2 days after installing my Stillen CBE and about a week after my Stillen gen 2 intake. Not sure if it was due to my exhaust or if my coolant thermostat is stuck open.
I'd love to see a vid and hear those berks with your setup, I'm looking for a HFC/test pipe setup that doesn't rasp.

Hi guys I go this tuesday at 10 to get this thing tuned once I get tuned I will put up some videos. I do have some picutres of the install I will thro up tonight if i can get out of work on time. I had the dealer I work for pull my codes but Im throwing 3 codes he said. The car is running fine i havnt noticed much of a fuel difference but im not driving the car much intil it gets tuned since we are in the 70s here i been riding my bike. As for the waiting on the intake manifold I keep going back and forth to what im going to build. Wether it be a na or fi car So I dont wanna thro the money away on the intake manifold I have the money for the build it just depends on what bug I get when I go to start ordering everything. To be 26 and dumb I guess.....
zfever is pretty much the only uprev tuner in central florida, would like to know how it is before I drive 2 hours.
im sure that my experience with zfever will be on point. My room mate is personal friends with Martin the Tuner as well as a few other guys. He was into the z car community before switching over to an FRS. I will deffinately let me know. I am getting hooked up on the tune. I will get pics up soon and will get the video up with the car on the tune. I did the ecu reset with the gas pedal pump withing the seconds and now im back down to idling fine.

also what is the advantage of changing the camshafts?
