The rattles... Slowly killing me
The rattles... Slowly killing me
In the past two weeks I've noticed creaks here and there, but nothing too bad. Today my entire dash started constantly rattling for two hours straight. It literally sounded like I was in a rainstorm and millions of rain drops were thudding against the car. I love this car so far, but I never would've bought it if I had known it would rattle this badly. Have any of you guys had any luck getting dealers to fix them? I'm a little disheartened at the moment that my honda civic with 80k miles on it and a super stiff suspension didn't even rattle nearly as badly. Am I expecting too much out of a 40k+ car?

I feel your pain
my door rattles and my side mirrors rattle but only when listening to music with lots of bass, other than that it doesn't rattle so I have that going for me I guess... heehe =\

I've had my 2010 G37 non-sport for almost 4 years and put 30,000 miles on it. The car rides as quiet as the day I bought it, zero rattles.
My advantages are:
The non-sport suspension isn't as harsh
The SW Florida roads are in great shape
It doesn't get very cold down here.
The only thing I have changed that actually improved the ride and handling was switch out the tires to BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2, high performance summer tires.

I had a 2010G and now a 2013G. The 2010 was far worse, even when new...especially creaks and rattles in the front console and wind whistles from the rear quarter windows. My 2013 seems better overall..., though it seems to be developing the all too common rear deck rattle...which can be fixed by stuffing a rag into the area under the left side of the center brake light. My biggest frustration is that this model has been in production for seven years...yet the same rattle(s) persist. It seems the rear deck issue should have been addressed years ago. I only have 9,500 miles on the 2013....so I suspect more rattles are forthcoming. My last car before the 2010 G was a BMW 2003 530i. While it had numerous maintenance issues...it did not have a single rattle or creak...even after 80,000 miles. I intentionally returned to acquiring Japanese cars because of reliability....but I sure hate the rattles. My lease is up in 14 months and I will be watching closely to see if the Q50 is better glued together. Early indications are not encouraging.
I get little creaks from the dash. It sounds like leather sliding against plastic. Not bad but I do get a slight rattle from one of the passenger door speakers when listening to some Machine Head cranked up.... I love the sound system!
I guess I should consider myself very lucky. My 09 seems to have been built fairly well because it hasn't developed any real rattles inside. Today was 24 degrees outside and I didn't hear any crazy rattles due to the cold. The car still feels very tight and well put together on the inside. My wife's brand new '14 Subaru Forester has more noises than the G does.
Now I can not say the same for several of the 2012-2013 Infiniti G rentals I've had at the dealers. The built quality didn't seem as good or maybe they were just in worse shape for being beat on as rentals.

I'm sur that has something to do with it. I can't be the only person like this.
I have a few rattles in the center console, but the window cowl was the worst. I was able to fix it with the DIY and it is a lot better. The other rattles are so minor that it doesn't bother me that bad.
I do too. No all the time some it does say Infiniti service loaner on the back and last thing I want is someone to call the dealership and complain about it.

Hertz in Vegas was awesome, I rented a brand new (10miles on odo) G37 for a roadtrip to the Grand Canyon. Fell in love with the G and never looked back.
