In so far as I've come to feel about aftermarket intakes over the years, these days I'm kind of ambivalent. All aftermarket kits are a win for the butt dyno and the ear, but more importantly it's a win in your head for subjective reasons. Actual quantitative analysis is often an irrelevant bump for most kits, potentially a loss in a few cases, and potentially noticeable and more consistent gains with long-tube kits on the G37.

Somebody is always going to make a compelling and passionate argument otherwise, but in the larger sample, it's fair to say it just doesn't matter.

For years now I've been saying that I'm going to replace my R2C for Takeda before I get tuned, but these days I'm really liking the way my current kit looks, so... I might do it in the next couple years, just for the fun of doing something new, but I also might not.

Well said sir. Even though long tubes make "more power" it's still not a significant increase lol. Plus when you add rain in the mix, it's def not worth the risk. One thing i did notice is the intake air temps were always lower with the long tubes. Which was nice during the hot summer days. But, I got caught in a monsoon and when I pulled the intakes there were water spots on the mafs. I believe that's what was causing my issue :/ we'll see what kind of power I make with the stock intakes and tune. I'm guessing it will be very close lol

Most of the LT CAI gains I've seen occur at like 7100rpm, so doesn't really appeal to me. Along with a more complicated install and the very slight risk of taking on water. The R2C appeal to me because of the easier install, black nickel looks great in the engine bay and the sound increase.

I've said this since day 1, I have stillen Cai and the wife has the r2c....I'm in full belief the r2c gives more mid range and the stillen gives more top end

The square Nismos are a good fit, quite a bit better than running the aggressive 10.5s in back, and some nice looking wheels as well. What tires are you running?

I was looking hard at the Takeda intake, had it in my Amazon cart and everything, but the weather issue got to me. I drive my G 120 miles a day in all kinds of weather in the north east. I can't spend 400+ on an upgrade that might hurt its reliability. I know you can get the shield for them, but I have a hard time thinking it's not hurting airflow, and I don't know if it would help much when I'm driving at highway speed in freezing rain for an hour, letting it sit (potentially with the heat of the engine melting the caked on ice into the filter), then trying to drive 60 miles home.

While I was wrestling with the decision, a set of K&N Typhoon rams showed up in the classifieds pretty cheap, so I jumped on them. They've got some pretty solid heat shields between the filter and the engine, give it a throaty growl, and decent butt dyno results, so I plan on sticking with them until/if I decide to go FI.

I don't think the Takeda setup is inherently unreliable, it's just pretty new and I hadn't heard much about it either way. It sure looks nice. Let us know how it goes!

@gregor12 if you are interested I have two almost brand new AFE Dry filters. I would choose these over K&N since you do not have to oil them. PM me if your interested! Curious to see your numbers after a tune with your sort of stock intake 🙃

Speaking of intakes...

I have the Injen CAI. I have their hydro-shields on them which is a sort of a hydrophobic sock. I've had them since last August...about 15K miles. I haven't had so much as a hiccup from water infiltration. As most know it's been VERY rainy here in the East and not one single problem. I travel, at ahem...a rapid clip everywhere.

Whith the ZSpeed under shield and the socks, I can't imagine how any water would be sucked in. I've been through deep puddles at speed many times. Anyhow, before I'm branded 'reckless', I'll leave it at that.

Well I have asked this question before and have searched far and wide on the net and could never get an answer and people always doubted it. I had to back my car into my office warehouse and after turning the car back on got the message and I was able to snap a pic of it. Anybody EVER get this message? Weird seeing as we only have rear PDC. Car is a 2011 Journey G37 Sedan. Take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Do you have the tech package with the Intelligent Cruise Control? That's the only thing I can think of, that something has to be able to have forward visibility for that to work, so they're using that sensor/camera. Pretty cool feature.

I have the tech package with intelligent cruise control in my 2011 and it doesn't have front sonar/ proximity sensors.

The guy that posted the picture appears to have a earlier model with the older user interface. Did those come available with a tech package?

No Tech. Just a regular 2011 Journey. Its funny I would see this every now and then (When in the garage or if something fell in front of the car during the night) and I finally snapped a pic .
