Are those mirror covers different from OEM that were installed on your power folding mirrors? I thought that the mirror covers you already had have LED side blinkers in them.

I'm also assuming the p/n you provided are for the unpainted black mirror bases with the motor in them. Right?

 

The pricing I'm getting right now is $800 shipped for all three parts which does not include mirror covers or turn signals.

There are mirror covers with blinkers installed by the dealer available or the anniversary blinker kits but it gets more expensive obviously.

Vic, any idea if the mirror glass is different from the jdm and the usdm? Or did you just use the same glass from your usdm?

 

Hi all. New to the site. I have an 09 G37s sedan. Was really loving the idea of power fold. They do have aftermarket but OEM style replacements on eBay (searched G37 power fold mirror) for pretty reasonable prices. Anyone look into that and if so what steered you away?

I just looked up on Ebay with your search results.
The one's I am seeing are for G37 (Q60)
The one's for the coupe/convertible are not compatible with the sedan in fitment.
Unless you found one on Ebay that I failed to see : P

EDIT: If someone is willing to try it, get a coupe power folding and attempt to take it apart. and see if the turning mechanism can be swapped over. it's just the base that attaches to the doors that are different. The main body "looks" to be identical.

Project complete on a sedan using aftermarket convertible mirrors sourced from eBay. This does require quite a bit of modification to get this to work. In short, You remove the actual mirror from the base that attaches to the door. You will retain the sedan door base, however the mounting inlay will need to be modified, as well as the metal mounting bracket on the convertible mirror as well.

you'll have to grind down the metal bracket in a few places and so some extreme plastic dremeling to get the metal mirror bracket to affix properly. One thing to note, this bracket mounts with three screws - the modifications only allow for two screw mounts. I simply used a generous amount of Loctite blue and the bond seems very strong.

Per the information posted by VQ-Vic and ModMe (from another thread), I purchased the pins that tap each door connection and connected them from inside the vehicle. Driver side is much more difficult as you need to move all the BCM harnesses out of the way to get to the connector. Passenger was a breeze - door connector is right behind the glove box housing.

Will post pictures and videos later.

Next task is to install the auto power fold module and then source an OEM driver side window / mirror button bezel (one with a cutout for the power fold mirror button). I used a dremel and a soldering iron to make a somewhat rectangle opening, but it's no where near perfect.

I have the vert mirrors waiting for the mod, picking up a second set of sedan mirrors later this week when I grab the new seats and apparently I got a new center console as well. May try to mod that to accept a holster but that will be a new thread.

BTW, you got any photo of the bezel you made to accept the hole? Mine came out pretty darn good : )
The only way to get a left side bezel with fold mirror button cutout would be from Europe.

I'd have to make another set to do a DIY. I'm certainly not tearing apart the doors and mirrors to get pictures. I meant to do pictures for the passenger side however I was working against the clock.

In all honesty, it's A LOT of work with a lot of back and forth. Trying to get the bracket to mate perfectly requires magic and a lot of alcohol and patience. Again, completely doable but it's not the prettiest.

Total invested = OEM Sedan mirrors + $230 for both convertible mirrors, $50 for those pins + $10 in extra wire, sleeving and other misc crap.

Less than $300 for the project.

 

Not bad, save alot money in exchange for extra labour

Total Invested = $550 JDM mirrors - however much I can sell my OEM for.
