Faint Metallic High Pitched Noise 2013 G37
Faint Metallic High Pitched Noise 2013 G37
I just recently traded in my 08 G37S Coupe for a 13 Journey sedan.
Love the sedan, but I have been hearing a very very faint high-pitched like metallic "clinking" sound when I drive. It sounds as if something is loose or maybe not bolted all the way down. It sounds like it's coming from behind the dash/engine bay. You can hear it when moving usually on roads that aren't perfectly smooth (which is to say, when the car goes over bumps you can hear it a bit more)
It's driving me crazy, but I'm not sure if it warrants going to the dealer. Has anyone else heard a sort of sound I'm talking about?

In most models the only thing I have heard is a whistle sound at higher speeds but that is closer to the rear of the car not the engine bay area.
I would say take it in if the sound is easily reproduced. Since you owned an 08 you have a good idea what it is like to drive a G and know when something seems abnormal.

I had a similar sound on my 12 sedan and it turned out to be a thin metal flange on my read driver side wheel well that wasn't properly fastened down.
Can't remember what the piece was called, but when the tech came out to drive with me, he knew right away and even used his hand to replicate the sound.
Good luck, I know rattles and strange sounds are very difficult to diagnose.
