The idea of driving a hybrid has always been on my forbidden list. This is Interetesting to have power and fuel economy at the same time

Should be the same as the M Hybrid: 417 lb-ft @ 4,400 RPM.

That's 117 lbs more than the 335i and almost 100 over the s4. Sounding like it will be a fast ride.

They really need to change the name from Hybrid to something that doesn't sound so Prius-y, just can't get that Prius taste out of my mouth-yuck!

But damn, a 50% boost in torque would wipe any thoughts of a Prius off my mind

While I agree with you, we have to recognize the bulk of Q50 owners won't be car enthusiasts. For them, the Hybrid label is a plus, and they will happily spend $50K on a luxury sedan that *saves* them money at the gas pump.

The other fraction of 1% who see the Hybrid model as added performance can simply remove that silly green badge. I'm sure there will be threads for that. (no pun)

No way. Ultimate sleeper. Pull next to a guy in a 335i, he sees "hybrid" on the side of your car... he and his girlfriend laugh... then zoom...

Well, since the 335i is ever-so-slightly quicker than the G37, a Q50 Hybrid might keep pace with it nicely. But no zoom.

And then both cars are dusted by the 335is.

Which is then crushed by the M3.

And so on and so forth...

Let's hope they keep that exhaust note in the q50 hybrid. Why couldn't they add more tq in the q50 -_-

A hybrid Japanese car keeping pace with the Germans... yeah.

I just look at this video above and get excited thinking about a tweaked 2nd Generation version of this system, in a car that is smaller with likely a firmer setup (regardless of sport or non-sport option box checked) in a car that is a few hundred pounds less...and I get excited.

I get what Rochester is getting at about people who "save" money at the pump. The truth is, "Luxury" is now a I definition that is changing. For some, luxury is electric. I guarantee you that Nissan Leaf accelerates more smoothly than any of the other automatic transmission G37's here. And sit a stoplight in total silence, without a slight vibration. Isn't that the true definition of luxury? But someone rather hear the exhaust note of engine, knowing something is alive. And that's OK too.

Some folks want to make a conscious effort I to use less fuel, whether it saves money or not. They may put a luxury on that aspect of driving a car. So while the payback, some folks may make the conscious decision to pay more for something that uses less. That is the definition of luxury to them.

It's really hard to make fun of that, because everyone on this board has spent $20-30,000 more to do something that $10,000 Nissan Versa can do.......move you from point A to B.

Mike, you are correct, best estimations right now is low to mid 30's for the gas mileage, and around mid to high 4's to 60( leaning more towards the middle). They are planning to keep a 3k premium over non hybrid, which is great. Also expect the awd sport hybrid to keep pace with pricing of a loaded a4. Ill let you guys know how the hybrid drives next month, should be exciting.

I think the 0-60 time (while were getting into dangerous forum behavior of magazine/hypothetical racing) will not dip that low. I should be faster than the current car.....but were not going to drop from 5.1-5.2 to 4.5 seconds. Adding HP/TQ to an already very fast car doesn't yield the same kind of gains that a slower car would show. 0-60 starts to become more irrelevant when you're getting into high HP cars.

Add 100 hp to a 9 second sentra and its now 6.5-7 seconds.

Add 100 hp to a G37 and it doesn't drop from 5.2 seconds to 4 seconds.

However, the higher HP will show up in the 1/4 time and trap speeds.

Consider though the m37 vs hybrid, there is a significant difference between the two about half a second, on top of that the vehicle will be lighter and have a better drag coefficient. . Also look for the non hybrid to be a little quicker than the outgoing model. This btw is not from forum or magazine info
