Did I cause harmful damage?

Hey guys,

So about 30 minutes ago, my boss comes in here and says I need you to drop me off somewhere, and we need to be there super fast. I'm not sure why he asked me, but maybe because of the G37

Anyways, I get in the car (it's been sitting all day) and back out. I typically wait 3-5 minutes to let the car warm up, this time I only waited about 3-5 seconds. Then he told me to get there as fast as possible, it was about 10 minutes away, and we only had about 15 minutes before the closed. I was basically nailing it to each light, and accelerating fast with RPM's over 4-5k. I would typically drive under 2,500rpm for the first few minutes when leaving the office, and then if I want to get on it I would.

Did I cause any damage punching the car without any warm up, and doing it over and over again the whole trip?

We made it on time, I'm still hired...but just concerned about my G, and the reliability after doing this.

I'm all about getting on the car once in a while, but I always let it have 5-10 minutes of babying first...

If it were below zero (F) and you rammed it to redline within seconds of engaging the engine... then maybe. However, you live in Florida, and your car was probably fully warmed up in under 30 seconds of driving anyway.

Relax. You're fine.

And not for nothing, but RPM's over 4-5K is normal driving in a car that red-lines at 7500.

I doubt you damaged anything. Probably consumed more fuel than need be. Should of told your boss to take his car.

If you boss is like mine I would said let's take your car and I'll drive. Then I would redline it in every gear. Too bad he drives a stinking Kia Optima. Boring.

Thanks for the laugh.

I am picturing some guy sitting in his parking spot idling for 5 minutes every day before leaving work...that is hilarious. Your drivetrain is not made of glass. Drive it as soon as you crank it. Just avoid revving it high until you are up to operating temp. If you do that every once in a while before it's warm, you're not liking causing any irreversible damage.

I respect the love you have for your baby, Brad. But don't worry, these guys are right unless you went past redline or very close to redline for a long punches.

Do I smell a case of OCD? You warm it up for 3-5 min?!? 20 sec is more than enough. Each time you do that you lose 3-5 min of your life...

One reason why I would never buy a used car especially off-leased CPOs. Sure, they are probably driving fine in 3-5 years when some suckers purchased it, they just have no idea that the real mechanical age of the vehicle they've just bought are probably around 6-10 years.

Yes, it is bad if you love your car and own it. You've probably ground 1000 miles worth of metal off the cylinders.

Infiniti G37 is an Infiniti G37, and those engines r made for such drivings, don't worry, if ur car could speak, it would definitely say after u drop ur boss: That's it ??!! c'mon, I want some more..

Trust me. Your car won't stay mad at you as long as your wife would if you treated her the same way. No need to make your bed in the dog house tonight.

Pretty much. IDK about you guys, but I find the G doesn't keep on pulling after 6500. It kind of flattens out. Makes you wonder why even bother with a 7500 redline when even at WOT you're going to be shifting long before that anyway.

I see nothing wrong with the OPs choice

this is how i drive my car everyday.

If ithe engine wasnt made to go above 5Krpm the rev limiter would be set below 5K.
