Eeeeuuuuuuuuurrrrrt!
Same here, Mike. My last car was a modified 5.5 Gen Maxima 6MT, and even though the G is clearly (and effortlessly) faster overall, the Maxima felt more responsive throughout. But it was modified, after all, so apples & oranges.
As to being lighter on its feet... that's because it was. While still being a larger car, it was also 500 pounds lighter than this Infiniti.

Mine was modified, too, mostly suspension bits, but was an A/T so a bit heavier than yours and not that far off from the G which is now lighter than OEM-spec. Def not 500lbs apart!
A little known thing about our old Max was that the HP/TQ ratings were inverted, the power output closely mimicked the Pathfinder at that time... 246hp/264tq approx. It seemed to have been the case of earlier 5.5 gens, which mine was. I'll try to find my dyno sheets from that time.Shaft? Driveshaft? Rochester was taking about gearing, no? Or in my stupor from flying back home did i miss something?
I feel the the 7at is geared pretty short already, too. As for lack of torque, you are right but I like revvers so I think that's why i don't notice it with my driving style.
I do want to get a better LSD in the long run though! And I've also decided I'm going to throw my rear 245s on the front wheels and get 275s out back for a square and yet more grippy setup as i was traction limited on the road course sooner than i expected. Which will force me to resolve the fuel starvation problem sooner.... And the cycle goes on!

Forgot you have a 7AT, us 5AT folks are really geared for highway runs. I could run pretty much the entire local course in 3rd gear if needed, with the occasional 4th/5th on the straights.
I thought Quaife made an aftermarket unit for us. It was discussed briefly on 'Driver sometime ago.
p.s. While you're at it, get rid of all insulation and seats. Lighten it up.
Well hello there fellow .Org'er

I can still rattle off my mod list from memory. Very proud of that car. Painfully, perfectly clean, and yet driven every winter. From the casual observer, it looked totally stock, which was exactly by intent. However, once you fired it up, or opened the hood... Still NA, but superbly maintained, and most every non-boosted mod in the book.
And engine bling. I got a thing for titanium nuts & bolts.

IMO, the small diameter of a driveshaft equals low moment of inertia so it's hard to justify the cost and possible increase in NVH.
So, yeah, agreed

Thanks, Ash. It was a heck of a hobby. Purchased new in Fall 2002, and driven every day for almost 10 years and 70K miles. I sold it locally to a friend that I see every few months. (Bastard put a set of Tein SS Coilovers on the car... always regretting not doing that.)
I hope to be taking similar car of my G37, and perhaps own it for another decade, too. Time will tell.

That's a good first step! Now head on to step two.
Ah, that engine bay, so bee-yoo-tee-full.
Funny, almost the same here. I practically gave mine away to an aunt who needed reliable transpo for her chemo treatments in a different city. I had 124k on that car, owned since late 2001, and took on a nice 17-state road trip.
Still get to see it every now and then, i think it has over 170k miles now with just normal wear/tear items replaced. If i had to complain on one thing with that car, is that changing sparkplugs is no fun --- you have to remove the upper manifold to get to the rear banks. Then again, it was TLC-time spent on the car.
I miss it a lot and have offered to buy it back several times, to no avail.

Them together at a local track.

The Org was a big influence on me, and sometimes the reverse was true as well. For example, notice the signature in the site banner:

Brake Package G37S (Akebono) 09-11
Okay... for over 2 grand... I don't know. But I have to say when I saw it, I gave it some serious thought.
Anyone know how much weight that'd save vs the OEM setup? I gotta be honest, here; I could fill a damn room with what I don't know about modding. I have learned the difference between sprung v unsprung weight and have witnessed, firsthand, the HUGE difference losing unsprung weight (or adding it, like I did at first) makes.
I am learning a lot from some of you folks, here. It's causing me to spend more than I would, otherwise, but I am liking how my car looks. I need to get with RaulG and have some work done to my chrome trim (blacked out) and calipers (not sure which color).
I do not (and will not) track my car, so I think that while the idea of upgrading my brakes is appealing, it just would not be practical. The stock brakes are more than sufficient for my application (very spirited driving).

Dont get two piece rotors unless you are overheating the stock ones. If you really want to experience handling improvements at the axles from weight loss, get ultralight wheels and tires! More of an effect.
That said, the weight loss with the RB two piece rotors is listed on their site. It's 8lb x2 up front and 4lbs x2 in back. 24 lbs total unsprung weight loss, but most of that weight loss is near the hub, so you won't see as much moment of inertia change as you will unsprung impact.

^^I know what you mean, Ash... I just went to 18 lb Enkei's, remember? BIG difference.
Losing another 8 per corner up front and 4 in the back would be less of an impact, I am sure. But combined with the lighter wheels it'd make a monster difference.
My dumb *** doesn't need to go any faster... (yes... yes, I do).
