Looking To Pickup A 2009 G37 Sedan
Im a newbie to the forum, i was considering picking up a 2009 G37 sedan this week. I really love the car and always been a fan just curious what is the biggest problem/issue i could have maintenance wise? I also heard the compressors go bad very easily not sure how true that is maybe u guys can help. This would be my 7th car in 5years just wanna make sure im making the right move. Never had any problems at all with my 05 Acura RSX-s, 09 accord coupe, 07 Lexus Is250 just the regular oil change.
and if this help here is the actual car im looking at:

I don't know what compressor you are referring to "going bad" very easily (AC compressor?) but it has never been reported as an issue by anyone on this forum that I'm aware of so be wary of any information you get from that source that told you that.
No serious maintenance issues are common on this car other than some sporadic brake rotor issues for some people and some clutch master and slave cylinders failing prematurely.

Black Betty, i just picked up an 09 g37x sedan and A/C is not working. Its still under warranty however it was a negotiating point so i was able to low ball the dealer to bring down the price of the car because of the non working AC but after speaking to an infiniti tech he said its common on some cars but there is a revised compressor that they replace the defective one with and supposedly it remedies the problem for good but dont hold me to that as i just picked up this car on saturday and havent had enough time to mess with it.

Not worried about clutch because I decided I’m not driving anymore manual lol, another reason im getting rid of my Lexus IS.

Juvi,
I've had no issues and I have the same model... I do have 10K less miles though. It is in pretty good condition from the pictures posted. Before you pull the trigger, I would suggest test driving this car as well as the 2009 TL that they have.
The one your looking at doesn't have as many toys as the TL. The g is in better shape though and you may enjoy the feel of the drive more, but since you enjoyed your previous Acura, it's just a thought.
Best of Luck in whatever you choose,
Cheers!

The only real negative I've had is the fragile paint, it's pretty bad on most new cars these days but Infinfiti paint seems extra chip-prone. Be sure your transmission (if it's a AT) has had the latest TSB applied.
Thanks for ur help and comments guys, heading back to the dealer later today hopefully it works out....and yes it will be automatic 5 cars in five years and 3 been manual time to give it up, i know i will miss it tho.
I own a 2009. The clearcoat is self correcting. Its a pain to work with. The clutch, OMG, the clutch, it's pedal is terrible. But there are three ways to work around that. But mechanically, this car needs VERY little. Basic maintenance is all you really have to do.
IMO I'd try to buy newer. The newer models don't have that self correcting clearcoat. They have better gps screens with bluetooth. Those newer models are also cheaper (about $100) to upgrade the gps maps because you don't need to visit a dealership to install. And the styling is upgraded a little. If you can afford it, go for it.

I guess I will be waiting a lil longer, I was getting 16% interest rate which I refused to take due to some mistake amex made on my credit report, which that said its going to take about 3months to fix. Sooner or later I will be rolling an 2009 or 2010 stay tuned
