Angry Free Cold Drink on a Hot Sunday Afternoon!

You must be wondering why getting a free cold drink on a hot afternoon made me angry.

Take a look at this photo of my G and you'll know why.

I was in Manhattan this Sunday and was heading home in the late afternoon. I made a right turn and at about 15 ft in front of me was this guy trying to "j walk" across the street. I was being nice, fully stopped, and waved to let him know I let him cross. He did not cross. After a few moments, he was still standing there. Traffic were coming toward my rear, so I naturally let go of the brake and started to roll forward knowing he did not intent to cross the street there. After I passed him...about a few feet behind my car...BOOM! I heard this impact and noticed the passenger side of my G full of sugary cold drink spilled all over.

I was about to get out of my car and ready for action. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

I'd not live in NY where these things happen. Sucks to be sure. Wash your car and get on with your life, leave that loser standing on the street.

People have no decency anymore, it's good you kept going people like that are scum. I guess if I had to walk in NY in that weather I'd be mad at the guy in the Infiniti too...after all our A/C is so good haha

you're driving a car, he's stuck walking now without a drink. sounds like you're better off either way.

people have no respect for others property

I try my hardest to not swing my door wide open or to not scratch a persons car with a bag or box. It doesn't matter if im parked next to a 2012 Audi or a 1998 Accord

Some people dont care and swing their doors open until it hits another car

Sorry to hear about that too. Sometime it's best just to stay in your car for your own safety. You never know what that guy is capable of doing or even what is going on in his head. In this case, you were definitely the bigger person by letting it go +1.

Just get it washed and move on with your day. Don't let these small things get to you. Karma will get him some day!

A few years ago, I would've stopped and confronted the guy but now I try not to let this type of stuff upset me too much. It's best you drove away. In today's world, you don't know if he's carrying a gun or knife. Wow, I sound like my Dad :-)

^agree. Some people just aren't worth it.

Reminds me of a time I was downtown and this car had pulled out and managed to block traffic in 2 lanes since they were faced horizontally to traffic. Guy being blocked got pissed and started yelling out his window, car blocking traffic decided to throw trash from his car in the open window of the guy yelling. Next thing you know he's spinning tires cutting across traffic almost causing an accident chasing the trash thrower down. Humorous to watch, but pointlessly endangered others and only sets you up for legal/criminal troubles down the way...

Lol I have to agree.
I would have gotten out and bashed my knee through his skull.
You clearly did the smart thing, I'm just hot-headed and would love to break a few bones.
