New owner, new to the forums - G37S Sedan

Hi all,
I turned in my 2012 MB C250 prior to leaving for Afghanistan and since then i've been searching for a new car to be waiting for me when I get back. I found a crazy 18mo lease deal on a G37S Sedan with premium and navi that I couldnt pass up. We have a BMW X3 as well and for me I've gone from Audi S4 cars, Audi A4 cars, BMW 3-series, and most recently the MB C250 but havent had a G-car yet. I've test driven one a few years ago and really liked it. I'm hoping for the best. I popped on this one and my dealer sent me photos. My wife picks it up this SAT.

The only thing i'm iffy about is that it looks like it has chrome wheels. Bummer but I guess I can have them painted pretty cheap. I also noticed that many of you have mud flap looking things that IMO really add to the lines of the car. Is this added at the dealership? Do they charge for them or is it a courtesy (wishful thinking right)?

Thank you for having the forum.

cheers! Mike

Looks like you picked out a nice one, big performance upgrade over the C250. The splash guards can be ordered from the dealer but I think others have gotten them online for a better price and from what I've read it's a simple DIY install. The wheels aren't chrome but bright aluminum. Not a great looking wheel unfortunately, but you could always pick out a different set & sell them when you return the lease. Look forward to hearing more about your car when you arrive & congrats on the great deal!

I think the wheels, being stock, aren't that bad compared to just premium wheels. Even the new coupe wheels I dont like as much compared to the spoke ones.

OP, Congrats and welcome to the community. Good luck with the modding!

I'm thinking your duckfeet are "Hyper Silver", which is a high-gloss, dark metallic silver. But definitely not chrome. This is no Chevy Malibu.

Welcome home, Soldier. I think a nice, new G37S is a great way to reward yourself for your service!

off topic, but my gf's company car is a Malibu. Those aren't even chrome wheels. They are chrome wheel covers.

Even more so, I don't think they're cast aluminum. The ones that aren't simply fake covers look like there's an aluminum plate welded over the innards of the rim, that's then painted or chromed. A lot of the OEM "aluminum" rims you see today are garbage.

At least our rims are cast, and made by Enkei. They'll crack before they start peeling apart. Although I think the paint could have been applied a little better. Lots of orange peel.

OP, if you didn't know already, your RWD S has staggered rims. 18x8 in the front, 18x8.5 in the back.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I appreciate it.

I wish I was home. Not for a few more months but I have something to look forward to.

I have already downloaded and read the car manual Wheels should actually be 18x7.5/18x8.5.

My wife is going to do F1 ceramic tint for me so the car will be all ready!

cheers! Mike

Yeah, 18x7.5/18x8.5 on the G37S sedan. As others have stated the stock wheels are painted silver, not chrome, and are certainly not the worst wheels you'll see on the road. That having been said, you can certainly get better if you've got a bit of spare cash to spend. But most importantly, congrats on your new purchase and welcome!

7.5" fronts? Ouch, you're right. Need to reorg my gray matter.

From Infiniti-USA.com:
18 x 7.5-inch, split 5-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/50R18 W-rated summer performance tires (front),
18 x 8.5-inch, split 5-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with 245/45R18 W-rated summer performance tires (rear)

Thanks bud. Yeah the Audis sure are a lot of fun and really beatiful IMO. I'm thinking of getting one as a track toy (older one so I wouldnt be mortified if I bend it up a bit).

I'm excited about the infiniti for it's great engine compared to anything else semi luxury at this price point. I really liked the last one I drove. I was pleasantly surprised to find you can have a true manual mode with the auto tranny, meaning it allowed me to bounce it off the rev limiter and wouldnt auto upshift on me like the BMW and Audi do.

cheers! Mike

Welcome Mike, I think the G will be on par if not better than the line up of cars you have driven.
I am curious what you think compared to the S4 though.

The picts are a little fuzzy but you can still see how nice the color black can be. Ahh the look of a fresh untouched interior.
