How does it compare to....?
Just a curiosity question: Why are you concerned with straight line speed?
The funny thing is, I have an acquaintance who has a tricked out M3 that he street races (legally). I mean roll bars, racing seats, harness and all... and he says the little Mini Coopers KILL it in those races, winning more times than they don't.

That's my point, the question is too simple for discussion. If all you want is straight-line stats, all these cars have been tested and reviewed ad nauseum. So I did answer it by telling you to read, research & test drive. Granted, I wasn't as friendly as I could have been, but that's how I am sometimes.
If it's a waste of time test driving cars, then it's equally a waste of time comparing them in discussion. Either way, test driving cars is certainly not a waste of time. I love test driving cars. It's the best way to learn about cars you're enthusiastic about. Just because you have the car you want, doesn't me you're dead.
Get out there are test drive, for crying out loud.
As for where... you're in Brooklyn, so your opportunities for a spirited test drive are somewhat less than here in Upstate NY. I'll grant you that. But "true ability"? Come on, man, WOT is hardly a definitive measure of a car. There are so many aspects to the driving experience, and "flooring the car" is just one of them.
As for C37CPA... meh. He's a troll, and probably ends up on more Ignore Lists than not. The Ignore List is a great feature; use it on me if you like. But I'm actually responding to your post, because not a troll. The thing is, you just don't make any sense to me. I'm here because you steered a question to me directly, but I'm sorry, man, even this feels kind of pointless.
Anyway, peace. Enjoy your rental.

If you want to start a topic for discussion, fine, but you need to be a little more precise with what you are asking. I saw your original post, and it was vague...very vague, until you modified it. Also, you may want to compare apples to other apples. The vehicles you have listed are very different, for example an A5 is an in-line 4 cylinder with 211 HP, the S5 is a supercharged V6 with 333hp? and they're both coupes. How can either of those be in the same discussion as a G37X sedan...let alone being compared to each other talking about straight line performance?
In regards to the smart a$$ comments, you should have expected you'd get some merely because of the vagueness of the topic. Most of the people that have been on this board for a while are very smart when it comes to cars and have an abundance of knowledge and expierence. But honestly, with how vague the topic was, they probably wouldn't even waste their time.
Now, test driving. Where are you going where you can't "floor it and test the 'true' driving ability"? I test drove 2 G's (one x sedan, one regular coupe, then my S coupe) before the one I ended up buying. Floored all of them, took corners fast and broke hard. And that was at the instruction of the sales rep that was riding with me. If you're not test driving the car how you're going to be driving it after you purchase it, then I would say you're doing it wrong. Why would anyone take a car for a lesurley test drive, buy it, then beat the crap out of it? Kinda defeats the purpose IMHO.
You've been on this board for like a week and have 8 posts....if it were me, I'd try give posters responding to your vague topic a little more latitude.
Just my ¢.02
2. G37 should be faster in a straight line, not sure about handling.
3. S5 should be faster (don't know much about that car)
4. I actually have both a 370Z and a G37, and I can tell you, the Z seems 10-15% faster and better handling, with a more focused ride. This is mostly because it's 300-400lb lighter.
5. G37 would be faster and better handling due to less weight.
6. Don't know
7. Don't know
8. G37 is faster, may be a tie on handling.
If you are trying to decide between the cars, just go test drive them yourself. It's pretty fun and you get a much better understanding of the differences between each car than any forum reading could give you.

Good luck with the car . Much better value than everything you listed and asked about. I think you will love the fit, finish, reliability and drive. Doesn't have the pull that my v-8 C6 has, but still a lot of fun to get on it occasionally.
1) 335xi
about the same 1/4 mile times (high 13s), but very easy to make it run high 12s (with a tune and +)
2) A5
Slow as ****, drove a v6 6spd one, i was very disappointed, If anything id get the 2.0T and tune it, quicker than the V6 and better MPG
The interior of the Audi are nice
3) S5
low 13s ... not very impressive but with a tune can be quicker, but I've also read that the MPG is literally horrible
4) 370Z
same motor ... not that much lighter ... sportier, rather get a coupe g37
5) M37x
same motor, few pounds heavier, TINYYYY bit more luxury, drove one all that caught my attention was the navi
6) C350
overpriced, slower than the g37, high 14s ... inside looks ok, not a fan of benz interiors, your paying for the brand name
7) GS350
low 14s, If i could right now I would get the brand new F sport version of this car, other than that, pretty nice car overall
8) 328xi
I dont think they make an X version, but regardless its very slow, probably the slowest here.
I would personally if money wasnt much of an issue on this list, I would get the BMW 335, but i like my G =]
(my little personal review)
btw stock G37 sedan runs about high 13s if you know what your doing.

As for leasing... there's both right and wrong reasons to lease. It's a personal choice. Makes your mod options somewhat limited, though.
And Matt, Mr. Rochester was my father.
The wife and kids have their own names for me, some more clever than others.
The G certainly can be a strong car off the line. With Traction Control off, the 6MT can be deadly fast out of the hole.

Yeah, we're on the same page.
People need to test drive more often when talking about cars. I tried to get a drive in on the new Scion FR-S this weekend, but they keep selling out of stock every time I stop by. Frustrating.

Heard the Subaru BRZ is fun too
Telling the dealership that I'm looking for a fun car for the wife, but not too pricey and one I'd like to drive, too. I think that line works better at Scion then Subby, but I'm also not putting too much effort into it. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood.
Stanv: Just a word of warning. The response from Rochester is his/her typical "say nothing/criticize those who don't have the same viewpoint" gibberish. You just have to take it with a grain of salt. Some people never advance past third grade mentally. He/she has referred to me as a troll more than once. Brings a tear to my eye, but more from laughter than anything else.

Kinda gotta agree with mr. Rochester. If your G is already leased, why do you care about the cars that are better than it or not better? The G is NOT a straight line car (outside of maybe coop's G but that's another discussion altogether)

My question was vague but I didn't expect anything more than a vague answer for it, it's only fair.
Like I live in NYC, you're not racing $hit around here unless you go upstate or to LI but if you're caught the troopers will be up your a$$ like a fat kid for birthday cake. It's purely a light to light, sometimes an exit or 2 on the highway thing.
I have tried doing research but it's all mostly outdated and reading what most of you guys write is way more informative, so I figured it'd be better to ask it here. That's all. I honestly don't have all too much time to test drive cars anyhow.
Basically, I wasn't trying to be rude/disrespectful either.
@Pricojorge That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!
