Was your's a CPO?
I am planning to purchase since I purchase a CPO... unfortunately... mine was there courtesy loaner car that I purchase. The dealer tried to get me for $1800. I contacted Courtney too and received a great price.
Anyone else thinks I should get the converage since its a CPO and especially since its a courtesy loaner vehicle before?

I bought the car already a 10 g37 sedan graphite with 24k mileage. I checked at my shop everything seems ok, but the damn tires are feathering. I feel I should go back and try to get some money back for the tires.

This is the first time owning an Infiniti so although I have heard "great quality no big issues" I'd rather put forth money now knowing about it rather than later hearing a clunk and having a huge dealer bill. Additionally with all the electronics and how crappy the 7AT transmission shifts I figured it'd be worth it.

Prior to my G37 I owned a Pontiac Bonneville SSEI; I bought it with 70k miles and sold it at 155k aside from general maint, tires & brakes I think I had spent only spent $400 in ball joints and tie rod ends. Then I bought a certified Pontiac G6 GTP with 50k miles and traded it a 96k, during my 46k miles my extras were 2 head gaskets at seperate times (GM covered both one was after the warrenty exp but GM did it for 'loyalty'), the 5k miles later I had a clunk up front that was 2 ball joints (joined by design to the lower control arms), 1 leaking strut, and 2 tie rod connectors, plus an additional $500 in misc garbage issues.

I'm not trying to compare GM to Infiniti but just making a point that after dropping $1800 on the G6 for front end/steering components (the GM dealer wanted $2400) and not knowing what was going to by the next oil change sucked...so I traded it.

I guess it's all about a piece of mind. Is it personally easier to pay now when you're expecting it vs. a possible surprise down the road? I think there's a poll on G35driver.com where 75% of the people said it was worth it.

Here was the full list of rates I was given (20k-30k mile bracket):

$100 Ded
6mo/36k=$599
36mo/48k=$695
48mo/48k=$838
48mo/60k=$1020
60mo/60k=$1195
60mo/70k=$1228
72mo/82k=$1512

I agree but you have to pay for car insurance and home insurance is almost necessary as well because of the worst case scenario of a fire destroying your home which would be extremely unlikely.

With an extended car warranty the worst case scenario is the rare chance you have a repair that will cost several thousand dollars (even then you still end up paying $1800 for it to begin with) in that 2 or 3 year period but it's not like your life is turned upside down like it would be with a house fire. The chances are a little greater that you might have a repair around $1800 in that period (but still pretty low not to justify paying for the protection and then again you haven;t saved anything, you just broke even).

The rate of return is ridiculously low for an extended warranty, and even lower for a reliable car maker like Infiniti. I just don't understand why people would throw that much money away for "piece of mind" especially when you know if something happens they will try thier best to scam thier way out of it by saying it's not covered somehow or is was due to owner neglect. The dealer is simply using scare tactics to take your money.

In all honesty you have to be a complete fool or have way too much money to pay that much cash for an extended warranty if you know the used car you bought was maintained regularly. It's not like you bought a Pinto or even worse a Chrysler.

Hey if you can justify wasting that much money on an extended warranty then I'm all ears. Would you make a wager for $1800 if you were told beforehand you had maybe a 10-20% chance you would break even and even less chance that you would make more than what you bet. I would venture to say no but somehow it makes sense with a extended car warranty? I don't see the logic. Even in Vegas they would give you 50\50 odds of doubling your money on a bet with a football spread. I would take the $1800 there, at least you got a fighting chance to get a return on your money.

Knock on wood an expensive component such as your navigation doesn't go out... The electronics on modern cars worries me more than the mechanical parts. If you plan on keeping a car until 120k it could pay for itself. Not to mention your spread that $1800 over the life of the car and it really isn't too much especially considering these cars are $40k + new.

everybody is making valid points. It's a roll of the dice. I am trying to decide whether to purchase the extended warranty now on my 09 G37 coupe. I've had it for about a year, 33k miles, and no real problems--did get the steering wheel replaced for chipping.
I am leaning to getting it because I had it on two previously owned cars, an M class MB and an SL. Both times they easily paid for themselves. Easily.

I think and hope the Infiniti will prove more reliable, but who knows the future.
It comes down to you pays your money, you takes your chances. And then not crying over perhaps spilled milk. Just full of cliches.

Wheels aren't covered, sometimes you can get a separate insurance for wheels but I believe it's typically only at the purchase of the vehicle (new or cert used).

Damage that isn't a direct result of workmanship or similar isn't covered. Paint chips, dents, cracked glass, ect aren't covered. Also wear items aren't covered, tires, brakes, spark plugs, ect.

Hope that helps.

I bought an extended warranty for my wife's Mini when she got it (used with 47000 miles). The 4yr warranty was $1500 (cash), I typically do not buy ext-warranties since they usually are a waste. Not this time...the car was going crazy one afternoon (every light on the dash was flashing). Mini ended up replacing a few modules and the bill would have been over $2000.....I only paid $100. This is a rare event I imagine but in my case the extended warranty was worth it. BTW, the warranty covered it no issues.

I did buy one for my 2010 G37 Sedan since I got the following from the dealer: 4yr/100k warranty for $1500 and they gave me 1.9% on the loan from 2.9%. I figured what the hell. I do see quite a bit older Infiniti's on the road so I hope that is a good sign and will have minimal issues?

My advice is do what you need to on the extended warranty, do not worry about what others say about a waste of money (you do not know their financial situation). For me I did not want to have any worries and do not now, I bought the warranty from a reputable dealer here and have no worries they will take care of it.

I bought the extended warranty. Was worth it as I got my stereo system repaired free of cost. That itself paid for the warranty. I used warrantyninja.com. They provided the best quote for my situation. Seems they negotiate with multiple dealers as well.

^wait, so they broker a manufacturers extend warranty on your behalf? And then you go to the Infiniti dealer and pay them? If this is right, how much do you pay for the brokerage service? Also, the "82k" in 72mo/82K is additional mile, right?

Seems like an unbelievable deal but I might be mixed up. Thanks,

Yes, they basically broker a manufacturer's extended warranty. They submit your quote to multiple dealers in their network and ask the best priced dealer to contact you.

It's free. I didn't pay them anything www.warrantyninja.com. I guess they get a cut/referral from the authorized dealer. But the deal was better than I could find.
