serious decision-making time

So I have a 2009 G37x sedan with 12K miles on it. Has the premium and nav pkgs.

Great car.

BUT...I have found a 2011 Corvette 2LT coupe for an amazingly low 'Move it off the lot" price. Test drove it today. What a beast. It was my "first time" driving a Vette, and I'm ready to drive it again. It is a 6-speed manual with 430 ponies and a wad of torque.

19" on rear, 18" front.

Dealer is giving me pretty good trade for my G.

So now I'm going through the usual "what will I miss about the G compared with what will I get with the Vette" lists.

I would appreciate any and all comments and advice.

I'm trying to be objective but not easy to do.

As long as you have a beater to drive during the winter.

yep as long as you have a winter car I dont see a problem in trading in your car. I think the thing youll miss the most is the space inside the car.

yes the biggest issue is that the vette would be the winter car. I'm in Ohio and we didn't even get a half foot of snow, but of course that's not typical.

the dealer said get the mud and snow tires for it and I will be ok. hmm...think so? I'm not convinced and I don't have the $$ to get a winter beater on top of a Vette...my other car is a Miata.

as you can tell from my original post, I don't put a lot of miles on a car, but still that darn snow....

yes the vette does not have a back seat, but mine was not used that much.

the vette cockpit is incredibly roomy. I'm only 5'6."

Bro I'm spent majority of my life in Michigan, and if you know like I know, a second car is essential even in Ohio. You don't want to plow snow in your Vette, do you?

Other than the snow issue, you MAY miss the flexibility of having a back seat. I drove a 350zr for 4 years. The car was a lot of fun - but there were times when I needed to take more than one person with me - or needed a real trunk, etc. After 4 years, I was ready to return to the sedan world.

I too justified the Z purchase with 'I never use the back seat' and 'I don't really need a trunk'. And it's true - 95+% of the time I didn't. But the other 5%...

Good Luck with your decision! Not going to be an easy one

thanks! I have 8 months to drive and enjoy that vette before I have to worry about snow, so this may work out yet!

sell the miata and pick up the vette, or buy the best winter tires you can afford for that beast (Blizzaks)

never was a fan of vettes though...(except the ZR1)

Trade the G for the C6, sell the Miata, buy a winter care to replace the Miata.
Here in NC, I can drive my C6 pretty much all year. Being familiar with OH weather, you will want to park the C6 in your garage for about 4 months. But...those other 8 months will be fun.
Good luck.

When was the last time you saw anyone drive a vette when snow is on the road or in the middle of a snow storm. You better have a 2nd car ready.

you'll be fine in the snow with winter tires, but it also depends on the way you drive.

you'll miss the trunk and back seats. i dont know what creature comforts the vette has, but if it doesnt then you''ll be missing those.

Honestly, why have to drive a ****ty car half the year because of weather? I'd stick with the G37x. It might not be nearly as fast as the vette, but at least you'll be having fun year round.

No beater? Don't worry about getting around in snow tires. Worry more about the idiots who will turn your vette into a pile of fiberglass shards when they rear end you. I would take a pass and save your money till you can have a beater and the vette. You'll be much happier.
