hey everyone! car is in the dealership trying to fix a tick that i hear from the passenger side of the engine. Im assuming its because I originally put in the Nissan Ester Oil 5W-30 at a different dealer, and then on my last oil change, they charged me for Ester ($15 a quart + labor/taxes) but just gave me plain crappy oil.

Reason for my paranoia is because when i did my FIRST oil change, it cost me about $60 bucks. Second oil change was about $100-$120 because I requested ester, figuring they already put in ester since its a factory recommended oil. Turns out they only put in ester, regardless what the factor says to do, unless you request it.

So my oil has been changing from ****ty to ester to ****ty again, or at least I think so.

My question to all of you is:

What kind of oil do YOU use and why?

Some are telling me to use Royal Purple or even Mobil 1, both of course at a 5W-30, but upon examination of the oils, they dont seem to state that they're ester oils.

Im afraid of buying a different brand oil because im new to this and already getting a tick is scary enough.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone!

 

I use Mobile 1. I've spoken with a few tenured mechanics and performance car guys, and they all swear by it!

not another one of these....just my $.02, $60 is WAY to much for an oil change much less $100!!!

A DIY oil change cost me about $30...Mobile 1 and WIX filter.

Then I closed your thread because it's redundant. Maybe I wasn't clearly explicit enough so you reposted the question thinking I'd closed the other identical thread by mistake.
