Good luck for you. I was not able to get a loaded 2012 G37x close to that number even before taxes and fees.

As far as I know, no one would buy a fully loaded 328i, many 328is run with just halogen headlight, go figure. People usually buy a 328 just for the badge. Common sense said if people has that kind of money, they would as well buy into a 335i, or 5s.

 

It comes down to this. Both are nice cars. I had a 335 before this G and liked it. I had lots of problems with the engine, and glad I lease.

But it was fast. The real deciding factor is a deal. The G was a much better deal for more car.

Just saw this article on InsideLine - Dyno-Tested: 2012 BMW 328i

The new N20 seems to be underrated quite a bit - BMW is quoting whp instead of crank! Thing put down 240whp / 257wtrq on a DynoJet, not too shabby. Pretty fat torque curve down low too.

The new 3-series has definitely grown on me with the styling, seems like a pretty nice package.

 

And just like when I got a 335 that was under rated a ECU update took it all away...the great thing about "press cars" and turbo is that they can simply...turn it up to make it better for reviews, which they did with the first 335. When I took it in for service there was a big difference in power.

 

That made perfect sense. A turbo 2.0L 4 banger makes 300 hp in a Mitsubishi or Subaru, it can be easily tuned up or down on the fly. The old 335i turbo was made by Mitsubishi, I guess the 328 would use the same maker. A detuned production car that anyone can buy could be much slower in real world driving to improve reliability, but hardly anyone less than enthusiastic would notice the cheat.

 

Really? Almost every magazine has the 3 series as the benchmark, the best of the best in terms of it's overall performance.

I agree that it makes sense that most people will not buy a fully loaded 328. I didn't buy a fully loaded G37x either.

 

You can also get the "ette". The Europeans option their cars differently than us. Frankly it's a great thing to be able to get the 335 with or without HIDs, or with or without leather, if that is your desire. Much more flexibility than the Japanese.

 

328 is pretty compelling. If I could just get comfortable with the potential repair bills. They finally fixed the ugly slab dashboard.

I believe Xenon is standard on 335. When did you see a 335 running with halogen lights?

I don't remember a time I was able to see a 328 with Xenon light at my local dealers, mostly bare bone with fake leather seats, but most 335s they had are close to fully loaded. I guess there are 2 groups of people buying BMWs, the elite group and the badge group. The way I see it is that the configurations that Japan manufacturers offer are more suitable to my needs as many must-have options I desire were already included in the base models. Not much luck with the German's who seems always try to sell you something you don't want with something else that you have to have. Let alone you often pay extra for supposedly "standard" features on a car of this class. The Germans need to do much better to win me back.

I don't know guys...this car is gonna have some crazy aftermarket following. Probably more than the e9X 335s. The look is growing on me too...especially the sport line.

 

Man I drove my buddy's 6-speed 328I last night. I didn't want to crush his new car dreams, but he felt way better about my G, than I felt about his Bimmer. Glad I got my G!

 

I don't want to get into another BMW v. G thread, but I just want to say HP isn't everything. 88 HP less, but with the low end torque of forced induction and the gas mileage, it makes up for whatever it is lacking, if any.
