MY07 to MY10+ front end conversion question

Hi everyone.

I've searched and feel pretty good about the list of parts needed for the conversion but couldn't find the answer to a question that my body shop has.

Do the 2010+ headlights plug directly into the 2007 headlight harnesses or are any modifications needed?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tuan

Edit: I misread, as far as I am aware, you can plug them right in. But you will need the new headlights.

My 07 has 10+ fascia. As far as the headlights go, they're plug and play. For foglights tho', you'd have to splice into the main harness. It's a piece of cake.

You'd probably need new lower grill and tow hook cover.... that's about it. Everything else should fit fine.

Oh and seal strip... always replace seal strip with new paint! Well, you don't have to but putting new tape on is a pita. lol

I've been a lurker for a little under a year here and on G35driver. I had to register to chime in on this excellent topic. Im having the conversion done as well. To clear things up, the 2010+ Headlights are a direct plug in, but there is no wiring for the fogs on the new headlight wiring on the back of the headlight housing. On the old lights there is a yellow wire and a white wire with a solid black like running thru it - those are your positive and negative going to the original 9006 fog. Follow those back to the clip where they meet the cars harness (not sure if they are the same color on the car's harness, the side before the connector but it should be). Anyhow just lengthen them and allow enough slack for bumper removal. At this point just solder on an H8 or H11 pigtail (headlight male plug with 2 wires attached) and they plug right into the 2010 fog. Job done. If you're going HID, then you can just cut the connectors off the HID plugs and solder the wires to your extended fog wires or you can add a more readily available pigtail harness for say a 9005 or 9006 bulb to make it plug and play HID(just be sure to order the HID kit for the connectors you opt to use, but specify H8 bulbs to fit in the fog housing). H8 plugs are hard to find. But 9005 and 9006 plug connectors can be found at ANY auto supply store and they seem to be always in stock. I grabbed 2 last week from Autozone like $6 each. I returned them after realizing how much money I have invested in this project, I cant half step at this point and do no Mickey Mouse **** on my G.

According to Infiniti USA and many parts distributors, the headlights do not work with the old wiring harness. Apparently, I will need a new wiring harness to complete the conversion at a $1500 expense and even then my dealer will not do the conversion because they have never done one before and they consider it a liability. Is any of this true...?
