Test drove a G25 today, a little thoughts

Brought my G37 for the 1st oil change today, had this G25 as a loaner to my work, pretty much the same handling but yet IMO G37 significantly shows its advantage over the G25 at corners and high end power, G25 on the other note low end is sufficient, but yet satisfactory to myself after owning the 37, overall still a nice car and shares no difference in appearance so people thought I drove a G37 on the freeway haha

The slightly lower MSRP w/ slightly better mpg but significant performance disadvantage just doesn't add up to me. I guess if you were cross shopping w/ a Lexus IS250 I could see the G25 being a decent choice. I really don't see many folks getting a G25 when the G37s are there right next to them and w/ some decent haggling skills could be bought for just a couple grand more (something like 45 bucks more a month on a 4yr note). Also don't they still lack nav?

When you buy a G25 it comes with a side of weak sauce.

I agree that the next gen G25 needs to have a laundry list of improvements to stay competitive with the new BMW 328. First of all they need to finally bite the bullet and replace the 2.5 V6 with a turbo 4 to improve power/efficiency. Let's just hope its not the anemic 1.8L turbo 4 that is going into the new MB C250. Its obvious the new agreement with Mercedes allows powertrain sharing across vehicle brands, but this would be a huge step backwards.

Something about a G18T just doesn't sound right.

This still amazes whenever I think about it. I would like to know what brainiac thought that it would be a good idea to not even offer the camera or nav options in a member of the Infiniti line-up. People don't look at Infiniti when they are 'cheaping out'. They will go buy a Versa or something. People that look at a luxury brand expect to be able to add any/every option they like.

Friends of ours recently bought a $34k Rogue (in Canada) which has Around View Monitor and Nav.

That's not true, my loaner recently did have a backup camera but no nav which i agree is ridiculous. The fact that the g25 loaner had around 6k on the clock and the avg mpg was only 18 was even more ridiculous. I reset it too thinking people had been beating on it cuz it was a loaner but the best i could get was 18.5. Youd think the reason for buying a g25 would be to get better gas mileage/save $.. it doesnt so its pretty pointless

My fault, as I wasn't very clear. My point is that if you order a base model G25 (RWD) you can't request a rear view camera or Nav. They are not optional on that specific vehicle within the luxury brand Infiniti line-up. Being in Canada, I would have to get the G25X in order to have the rearview camera. It doesn't make sense.
