Plasti-Dip, WeatherTech, and JWT Pop-Chargers

This weekend I did some more stuff to my new G37. I read a lot on the forum about using Plasti-Dip and so I debadged most of the rear, and then Plasti-Dipped the rear Infiniti Logo and also the center of the front grill. It came out great, and it was super easy. Thanks guys!

Then I got my WeatherTech DigiFit Floor mats, they fit perfect, gonna help during the last of this winter. I also got the side window deflectors. They were for a 2009 but thanks to other members, I went ahead and got them knowing they will fit my 2012. The install of these newer ones is so simple as they just wedge into the window rail where-as older ones had double-sided tape. It looks clean too!

Anyone else had these? It said to let the windows remain up for 12 hours. Its been about 16 hours and sometimes when I auto-roll them up the window comes back down on the first try, it still kinda rubs against the side by the edge of the center of the car. I assume over time that will go away?

I also ordered the JWT Pop-chargers. Those should be arriving in a few days, pretty excited about that. More to come!

I don't, sorry. I read way too many threads in the last 5 weeks since owning my car. Basically I just read about what plasti-dip does and saw what some folks have done, then I watched a bunch of youtube videos. you can basically spray anything. Just mask off an area and cover the rest, and do many light coats and take your time, spray evenly. The stuff works fantastic!

I actually just bought some plastidip to do the same thing to my grille, the question I have is will the tape peel off the plastidip at all? I'd like it to be chrome around it like yours, but i'd like to have a nice sharp line where it cuts in.

Also, they just came out with plastidip "glossifier" which I am trying to get a hold of. I was going to make mine a gloss black (the pictures i've seen make it look a little like semi-gloss) so it would be more like the factory grill.

Yes, the tape will start to peel it off. So what you do is mask off an area around the peice so you dont have tons of overspray. The thing is, if you spray something that had edges or borders, like the back Infiniti emblem, the Plasti-dip will not connect the two peices, so when you peel it off, it breaks at edges like a seam. So when I did my rear emblem I just taped a square around it, and when I peeled off the edges, it tore at the logo and left just the infiniti logo dipped. As far as the grill, the edges of that are a little tricky since its at like a 45 degree angle from where you dont want it to be dipped, so you have to tape that up very well around each blade, other wise it wouldnt know to stop there when you went to peel it off. but just think of it as masking for spray paint. the stuff is pretty damn amazing.

Check out videos on youtube or visit Dipyourcar.com. Great videos

Looks awesome!

One question though. Let's say I wanted to do something similar. Where the hell would one buy plastidip?

And one more thing....You dipped this right on your car? Just taped it n such? Brave for sure!

plastidip peels right off, so even if you get it on where you don't want it, it comes right off. you can get this at home depot.

You can get it at Home Depot or Lowe's, but I suggest buying it from that guy I mentioned above, http://dipyourcar.com. He has it cheaper and he sells all the colors, plus he has the glossifier and the metalic sprays.

As far as taping goes, I suggest leaving about an inch or so around what you are trying to spray, because you can grab that piece and simply peel it off and it should break at the seam easily. I saw people on youtube mask the area with tape right up to the piece they want to dip and when you go to remove the masking, it makes it difficult because you will probably have to use a toothpick, or something to get the edge and pull up and start peeling, whereas if you had about an inch or so, when you peel up the masking tape, it will take the plasti-dip with it and peel off and it will break at the edge of the thing you want to dip.

When I did my emblem, I just masked off a square around it giving about an inch or two and when I peeled off the masking tape it took the plasti-dip with it and broke at the emblems edge and left it perfect and simple. Then I just used a toothpick to grab the plasti-dip in the center of the emblem and peeled that up.

You can pick up a can of plastidip from the paint department of any home building store (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.)

In case you don't know what plastidip is... it's rubberized paint originally used to coat the grip of tools, until it was made in a spray form and fell into the hands of a car guy... and well the possibilities are endless. This stuff will peal off on demand with no issues as long as the coats are thick enough.

Sorry for the cell phone quality pics.
Here's the steps:

Enjoy
