Body is '07 - '13. Front bumper and headlights are '10 - '13 Sport Package.

Other than that... all kinds of aftermarket and custom mods going on.

Could I still achieve a somewhat similar look (without ripping it off) with a slightly older g37s model?

 

I'm obsessed with that g but I'm not quite sure if it's frowned upon (like the tattoo world) for wanting to get something that looks very similar or if it's a compliment.

 

In 2007, the G35 Sedan changed body style from the first Gen G35. Look at Mkhlmnn's HDR pic directly above yours.

In 2009, they rebadged it as G37, with the new engine and 7AT.

In 2010, they refreshed the design with a new front bumper, rear bumper and headlights.

2013 was the last year for the Sport Package (both real on the RWD, and appearance-only on the AWD.)

In 2014, they rebadged it as the Q40. No more Sport Package. No more 6MT.

2015 was the last year for the Q40.

What exactly do you mean by "both real on the RWD" if you don't mind me asking.

 

You could definitely do something like that, but you would have to decide how far you want to go. Drew's build is insane and has millions of modifications on both the interior and exterior. If you just want the appearance, I'd say go with bags, wheels (obviously not the exact same wheels, unless you really want to), headlights, front/side splitters, and some carbon fiber accents and maybe a paintjob/wrap.


Drew's car is really a one-off car, no matter how much you try to draw inspiration from it, it will never be the same as his, so I don't think you'll have to worry about copying his style. Besides, Drew is a nice guy and I don't think he will take offense for having similar taste.


Anyways, our platform has been modified almost every which way so there's bound to be cars that have been done the same way lol.

 

The sport package on the RWD models added some functional components like BBK and LSD (thus, making it actually a "sporty" upgrade), while on the AWD models it was strictly cosmetic (paddle shifters, bumpers, side skirts).

 

Hahaha, well that's great to hear! You guys are awesome on here. I really do appreciate all of the informative advice and suggestions.

So one more question. If I don't HAVE to buy a 2013 I'd like to go a little older so that I can get something in the lower miles and still have money to do things like the above mentioned appearance mods. What would be the lowest year you'd suggest to still be able to achieve a similar look? Also, not sure if it matters but I'm looking at the "s" not "xS".

xS means "Xtra Sport" so you want that. JK the "x" simply denotes AWD so with an S model you will have RWD.


As Rochester stated, the newer facelifted models started in 2010 so you can go as far back as that and still have the look of the 2013.

 

For some reason, Nissan only offered the Sport Package for appearance items on the AWD Sedan. Sport seats, side sills, front bumper, etc. The only functional component were the flappy paddles on the 7AT.

But if you got the Sport Package on the RWD model, you also got a tighter steering ratio, limited slip rear diff, big brakes and sport-tuned shocks.

Some other oddities... the RWD model also got a stiffer rear swaybar, regardless of Sport Package. And the 6MT was its own sub-model, which was essentially the Journey Sport with a manual transmission.

 

Yeah, i don't really understand that. They should have at least put the big brakes on the Xs.
