What do think will return better mileage/power?

93 Octane w/10% ethanol (as like 99% of stations out there)

OR

91 Octane w/NO ethanol

I'm running a test right with gas that contains no ethanol and I think I'm seeing a decent uptick in mileage. I'm driving about 160 miles tomorrow (all highway) so that will be a decent test.

i think its well known that the 10% ethanol reduces performance and mileage.

i know its no good for marine engines...gas stations around where i live have special signs that they pride themselves with ethanol free gas.

Agreed. No ethanol gas gives more mileage and feels peppier.

Ethanol gas is a bad joke. Just google it would find no positive reasons for it to be exist.

Nobody else has mentioned that the VQ37VHR was specifically tuned for 91-octane fuel. Higher octane doesn't automatically mean more horsepower or better mileage. If the engine in not designed for higher octane, you're just blowing it out the tailpipe...

So, the short answer is pure premium 91-octane fuel will deliver the best performance and economy.

I wish I could find someone around here in Northeast Ohio that has ethanol free fuel. I've noticed a significant decrease in MPGs over the past few months when they obviously started to fill the tanks with "winter gas".

Anyone know of any stations that may always be ethanol free?

I seem to be getting summer mpg with this non ethanol gas. Curious to see how she will do next summer with the same gas. Just wondering are epa estimates based on E10?

Here in the garden state they usually don't sell 91 octane it's 93. But you have to look for ethanol free gas.

I've run both types of fuel (with and without ethanol) and I can't tell a difference. I know ethanol helps reduce tail pipe emissions...and its far less dangerous to people compared to the oxygenation products used in the past. That said, there might be a difference, but we can't validate any degradation in performance without a dyno. Does anyone have a link to a comparison?

Not to be overly political...but I like giving part of my gas money to USA farmers rather than people in other parts of the world who want this country destroyed.

I don't. I'd rather put GAS in my car, which it was made for, than put ethanol in it, which isn't really good for it and decreases the efficiency.

this x100
Ethanol sucks, I get aprox 10% less mpg (although that may also be other junk that makes up the "winter blend"). Ethanol is just a filler, kind of like corn in dog food. If you add 10% ethanol and get 10% worse mpg what the hell is ethanol doing???

As far as keeping the money for the farmers, I don't have a problem w/ that but it's one of the primary reasons for such a big spike in all corn products (which seem to make up about 60% of food out there)

Pick your poison...if ethanol was not used, this country would be importing 6 or 7% more oil and gasoline prices would be more expensive...we're going to pay somewhere........ I agree that increased food prices have resulted because of ethanol..... I still would like to see comparative dyno results...
