Lack of power off the line

Hey guys I have a 11 g37xs, I feel like when I floor it off the line the car is held back. I can't even chirp the wheels with traction off. My old mazda 3 was even able to do that from a stop. What do you think?

Question

You have AWD and aren't able to launch due to the automatic tranny... you expected differently?

I have the RWD G37S and I have chirped the hell outa the wheels with the traction control on. Shocked me, actually... I floored it from a red light and *chi-i-i-rp*.

Didn't affect my launch any, so I guess the wheel that gripped was enough and the other one did the chipring.

Try disconnecting the battery over night to reset the ECU. Sometimes it takes a day to settle down after a reset but it may be what you need. Use good gas too.

What do you mean by settle down? And disconnectingthe ecu will make the can run faster? I know it may erase the tranny memory, but does it do more?
Also, when you disconnect the battery, do you loose your phone book numbers and name and radio channels?

I don't think you can chirp awd by design. Wheelspin will cause the front axle to activate. IMO not worth disconnecting the battery.

lol interesting thread...

did you even read the manual? do you recall...possibly a break in period for the car prior? although some say otherwise (including myself) -- breaking in the engine's a good idea (ie driving the way you will drive it for the remainder of its life -- although not smashing on the gas from lights). you'll notice a bit more tq after break in.

good luck...smh

Yea the car is broken in at 7K miles. pulls strong at higher RPMs. I'll try resetting again, but I don't think leaving it overnight is necessary

Dude, you have AWD. You chirping the tires is highly unlikely. As stated before, the system is designed to engage the front wheels when rear wheel slip is detected.

Have you changed the air filters yet? Read the manual or try searching to see when that should be done. but that may be something to look at as well.

low end torque, you are not going to go anywhere quick off the line.

SMH indeed...

Chirping/peeling out "from the line" doesn't necessarily mean the car is lacking power... in his Mazda's case, even if it was the Mazdaspeed3 he was only experiencing the vehicles inability to control what power it did have... like it or not, the regular 3 had no traction control to speak of and the Speed suffered from that as well as a massive helping of torque steer.

With AWD, the drivetrain has the ability to distribute the power across all 4 tires down to the pavement... therefor it is MUCH harder to "chirp" the tires.

Chirping from an AWD system in a performance vehicle is an indicator of either an inadequately modified or maintained drivetrain... or just a crapload of power!
