Talking Hello from new onwer + some q's!

Hi everyone, wanted to introduce myself as the new owner of the Shadow G37S 6MT. The idea of ownership hasn't even sunk in yet, but decided to go ahead and join the gang.
I went with G37 MT after considering several options as an upgrade to my beloved 2003 Subie WRX. Wanted to go a little upscale, but without compromising too much on performance and of course with "real" transmission. He He. Pictures to follow.

I want to share couple of super minor issues to see if anyone have any input.
1. The front driver door doesn't close as smoothly as the rest, and needs to be slammed a little bit.
2. Same thing for the trunk. Requires a bit of slam, which is surprising. Sales guy adjusted the 2 trunk lid feet. Was in a hurry, so they ended up not being even. I want to adjust but not sure how the washer works and don't want to brake them.
3. Scratch on the interio metal trim of the driver side - definitely will need to be replaced under warranty.

I plan on bringing this to dealer attention over the weekend, so don't think it's a big deal.

But anyway, the car is a blast to drive. Have hard time not pushing engine over 4k rpm under the break in period. Need to keep remembering to vary speed on highway and to wait a bit in the morning after start. Let the fun begin!

Welcome to the forum.
1. The front driver door doesn't close as smoothly as the rest, and needs to be slammed a little bit. My rear drivers side door needs a little more effort than the rest. Usually when the other doors are all closed tight...I think it's partly due to trapped air pressure.
2. Same thing for the trunk. Requires a bit of slam, which is surprising. Sales guy adjusted the 2 trunk lid feet. Was in a hurry, so they ended up not being even. I want to adjust but not sure how the washer works and don't want to brake them. Get the adjustments fixed but I noticed the trunk was stiff on both my G's when new but loosened up a bit after a short while. It became easier to close
3. Scratch on the interio metal trim of the driver side - definitely will need to be replaced under warranty. Definitely a warranty thing.

Congrats on your new G, sounds like a nice one
Don't worry about going over 4k, just don't redline it and keep the rpms fluctuating. Basically just don't use cruise control and just shift it a bit more often and you'll be fine. Running up the gears shifting at 6k won't do a bit of harm, just don't run it above 4k for long stretches.
Have a blast & welcome to the site. I'd also do your first oil change at 1k then 4k and then every 5k after that if you switch to synthetic oil that is.

If the WRX was "beloved" why did you switch? Just curious.

Mainly, I'm not crazy about the look of the current generation of WRX. (Says a guy who had a bugeye, I know ) The STi's right now are very hard to come by, and at the same realm it shares the look with WRX and basically have not changed a lot since it's introduction in 2004. G37 MT for me was an almost perfect balance of performance, luxury and looks. I say almost, because I hate the fact that Infiniti forces all the options, especially sunroof on the MT model. I don't like having sunroof in my cars because it lowers the interior height by more than an inch. I'm a tall guy, so I like my headroom. I also wish G37 would be lighter by about 500lb. Finally, it's too bad Infiniti doesn't offer Blue Slate color on the MT. Graphite Shadow was my second choice in Infiniti color, so that what I got. In the end, it was the best choice for me.

Congrats on the new car. I agree that my doors and trunk did close a bit hard during the first month give or take. Now I can't notice a difference in the effort to close any of the doors, and the trunk seems to have settled a bit.

That break-in period is tough isn't it, you can make it through...and then let her run!

I think bugeyes are sexy! hahaaa Congrats on the new 6MT man, hope you enjoy it! And I agree with you on the weight issue, but its a proper big-ish car so we have to deal with it!

Yeah, things will loosen up over time, especially the trunk.

Sounds like your dealer did not do a thorough pre-delivery check. Hopefully they will get it sorted out. Best of luck and welcome.

When I first had my G it took a lot harder push to get the trunk to lock. Now it closes normally. My doors always closed normally.

The one item that I wasn't use to was the sensitivity of the smart key. When the key was in my pocket and I was near the car, the trunk would unlock and I had all the windows roll down a few times.
It doesn't happen as often the longer I own the car, maybe I'm subconsciously more careful around the car when the smart key is in my pocket.

Update

1. Dealer replaced the metal trim. I actually noticed another small scratch on the passenger door on the same side - both trims replaced. I did not see any scratches to the plastic as a result of this job.
2. The door not shutting properly is a bit problematic. They said they played with it a bit and basically gave up blaming it on a non broken in weather stripping. However, as the last resort they decided to adjust the door a little lower - and it fixed shutting problem, but it now catches a bit when opening the door. Anyway they seem to be cool, so on the next visit I'll ask them to look at it one last time. Don't want to mess with brand new car, too much.
3. Didn't tell them anything about the trunk, I'll see how it is once broken in a bit.

Otherwise, it's all good. Was dreading driving the loander: G37 Journey with Auto. Tried switching to the manual mode, but it only adds insult to the injury. . I realized I wouldn't even consider G had I test drove it in non Sport version with Auto transmission first. Good thing the very first test drive I did was a G37Sport manual. No hate for Auto owners - I believe to each its own.
