5 SPD VS 7 SPD? compression ratio the same!
5spd smoothly upshifts and downshifts, no lag, no "flare".

The only downsize is gas mileage.

I've got a 7AT and haven't had any problems with it. I prefer it to the 5AT. Smoother shifts, better fuel economy, and quieter on the highway.

Get a 09+ with the 3.7L V6 and the 7AT and you can't go wrong.

I had an 08 journey sport (coupe though) and I thought the tranny was awesome (fun is DS mode w/o shifting via paddle shifters). WOT shifting was good. Never had the 7AT (went with the 11 6MT). Thought the 7AT was supposed to get better mileage?

Get a 12. you get the better engine and they eliminated the main issues with the transmission from the 09-11

Is there proof that the transmissions' problems have been eliminated in the 2012? If that's the case they've got a lot of people that will be lining up at the Inifiniti service bays for a better update than what's currently available.

I have driven about 30 2012 g's so far and they all show none of the issues that were present in previous models, everyone so far that has driven an 09-11 and then drove a 12 have all felt the difference. I would assume that there would be no official notice of an improvement as that would be admitting to an issue to begin with.

I have owned a 06 Gsedan & a 07Gsedan. I now have a 11Gsedan.
I can tell you that IMO coming from the 07 to the 11 I like the 7spd transmission more.
I have not expierenced and issues with my tranny.

I agree. I have a 10 xS and I like the 7 AT. Besides the appearance differences if you go with a 10+, if you were planning on getting nav the system is somewhat improved with touch screen and better resolution. You might find a good deal on a 10, but if you can get a heavily discounted left over 11 go for it! Had I done so last year at this time I think I could have gotten a new car equipped like the used one I bought this summer (w/12k on it) for only a couple of thousand more, and I would have had it 6 months earlier.

Damn this itch.

Checked out the 2012 Limited Edition. Definitely nicer than I expected. So I'm having them price up buy/lease for the G as well as lease for the M37 and M56 (because I was dumb enough to sit in one.)

My VPP doesn't apply to the Limited Edition. Any suggestions on what a good deal is on an 2012 G37XS LE? (Yes, I'll hunt around.) I have a G today (of course). I'm thinking they should still be able to give my VPP pricing and it doesn't seem the LE is that dramatically different from a non LE with the right packages.

I just got my 2012 this Saturday! I went to test the '12 and the 7 speed is so smooth and with the rev matching technology that comes with S model! I fell in love!
