You end up with a judgement against him, fairly worthless if the guy has no credit rating to begin with, nothing will haunt him.

Basically replacing the entire rear end, including the rear seats because the leather got scratched/tore from the rear windshield when shattered. Insurance is also reimbursing for the tint and rear diffuser. My deductible will also be reimbursed since they caught the other guy and he actually had AAA insurance. Now I wait....

I'm at least thankful they caught the guy and he has insurance for damages.

You can always try to look up if there is a case on the Superior Court's website. Since you now have his name, just type it in to see if there is a case against him.

The investigating policy dept should be able to provide you with the full crash report [for a fee].

You're probably more "connected" than me.

They haven't released any personal information about the other driver to me. Probably for the same reason most people here wants it for. lol. But I didn't think to ask either. I will see what they say next time I talk to my adjuster.

I think KBB for my car was $27k. They wouldn't total it.

The truck rides on a ladder frame. If the frame is bend, it's automatically a total loss, which looked like it in this pic. I had the same pit-maneuver type accident in my mini van. Since the car is modular, the cut out the damaged portion of the chassis and welded on a new piece...... I wish they would have totalled the van instead of fixing it.

I have a unibody, but it hit high enough because it was a SUV.

That's one thing I never understood myself. The term "frame" is really only applicable in trucks these days. The body shop guy laughed at me when I used the word "frame" when my mini van was in the shop. Unibody is still wielded from different pieces that can be replaced, therefore harder to get a total loss from one sided impact not involving different panels.....
