Wow...geared pretty short. My old z28 was about 1800 at 80mph in 6th. I guess in normal driving you skip a few gears when accelerating.

^All V8 GM cars are geared very low. My dads Vette sits under 2k at 80 as well. Thats how it achieves over 30mpg on the freeway...

weird. i'm at:

60 ~ 2250
70 ~ 2600
80 ~ 2950

are you on undersized tires? i'm on OEM sizing...

our gear boxes are very stout, but not as smooth as some of the competitors. my '09 6MT is improved over my old '04 G35 6MT(even on its 2nd gear box), but they are still notchy and the clutch has a long travel. i will be pressing my local dealer for a replacement gear box soon as i don't like the sounds coming from my tranny, but we'll see how that goes...

I have a '11 6mt. My main peeve is the narrow sports seat, even at its widest setting. And I am thin. The other thing is the gas mileage vs. the 7sp. You will lose a couple mpg overall.
80 mph - close to 4 k rpm.
60 mpg - about 3 k rpm.
I drive it hard and I like it.

Search removing the thigh bars. I'm of average builld and love the sport seats but this has been debated ad nauseam but I drive mine hard as well. My kids, unlike my wife, love hearing the Ark.

Gotta love it when 2 dealers go to bid against one another.

Will probably finalize everything early next week, then the wait begins. ETA sometimes in dec or early january.

Still need to figure out what color I want - liquid platinum or the graphite shadow. Most likely going with the liquid platinum with the dark interior. Not really a fan of white or black. The vibrant red did catch my attention, but the z28 was red and I don't want another red car !@#

Looking at a number of pics, the red sure looks good though - New 2011 Vibrant Red G37 6MT - G35Driver ... Wonder how popular this color really is, and how it will affect resale value in the future. 6MT sedan in red... hmmm..

My old camaro.

Can you elaborate? Under what conditions does it do it? Hot or cold ambient temperature? The z28 made a noise when it was really cold, it was some covering or boot around the steering column that was rubbing slightly.

Don't forget the our cars have a High-RPM-reving engine, so they will hold more RPMs than those of a lesser RPM range. We redline at 7.5, whereas a V8 in a Camaro redlines closer to 6k RPMs. That's a big difference. Where the G holds its RPM in 6th gear is actually really good when minding the fact that it barely redlines sll the way at 7.5k.

What do you mean by this statement?

Agreed on the rpm range of a 8 cyl. I don't think i ever took my z28 over 5500 on the tach. Gearing was way different too. Too bad I can't remember what 2K rpm was in the different gears other than 1800 being 80 mph in 6th

7500 Rpm is quite high. I think a honda goldwing tops out at 6K or 6500. Granted, it's a 6 cylinder boxer engine with only 2 valves/cyl. OTOH, my fz1 with it's past generation r1 engine tops out at 12K rpm with 5 valves/cyl, I4 layout, and still manages to generate 145hp at the wheel after a few intake/exhaust & fuel mods.

Save yourself the trouble and get the Auto. More convenient, smoother, and better gas mileage. If the 6MT was better in the G, I'd definitely recommend it, but it's a very rough driving car with the 6mt. I traded mine in after a whole of issues with the car, especially the transmission, and I got a 6 speed 2011 Mustang GT, and that gear box is a pure joy to drive. By the way, even though I had nothing but problems with my G37S, in no way am I saying you will have issues with yours. They are reliable and stout vehicle, and Infiniti's service, at least in my experience, was top notch, except for one dealer. I was one of very few unlucky owners that got stuck with a bad car. Good luck either way, and post pics when you get it. S sedans are teh secks.

I don't think I can drive another auto. The camaro was a stick, had it for well over a decade. I thought I could deal with an auto, but absolutely hate driving the current car. It has lots of power (270+ hp), but the driving experience is so disconnected, it's disgusting (2011 optima sx turbo 2.0). It's been 2 months since I got rid of the camaro, and I already miss the full control over gear selection, and a clutch vs a torque converter.

It might be the car, not the transmission when it comes to that Optima lol At least go give it a shot. I thought the exact same way, but every time my car was at the dealer and I got a loaner with an auto, I love it. The only automatic cars I've had have been dual clutch gearbox cars, so I definitely am not a fan of the torque converter type transmissions, but the one is the G37 is pretty good.
