Looking to get HFC's
Looking to get HFC's
Hey all
I have a 2011 G37x with a R2C intake. I want her to have some more growl without having to spend a crazy amount of money on exhaust systems. So, I was wondering, if I add Berk or F.I HFC's, will that enable the car to sound meaner?
I wonder though if anyone foresees any problems with this set up? Such as check engine lights or, if/when the time comes to go back to stock. Would it mess the car or engine up in a few years? Feedback on this? Share your story?

i herd kinetix HFC are the only ones that dont throw the CEL, but ive also herd berks are a hit and miss with the CEL. the sound will definitly be noticeable but it will be a little raspy with the stock exhaust.
if ur interested in TPs i have a set of Invidia test pipes. just to answer ur question, pretty much changing anything from stock cat will give you a CEL. u can always reset ur ECU or get a reflash to clear the code. in terms of long term effects, there arent any stories ive heard of.
I'v heard nothing but good things about the Berks. I ran them on my 05 coupe and actually have a set arriving tomorrow. They will certainly make it sound meaner, although with the increased airflow some ppl complain about the hiss that the Coupes make. But I would do Berks or FI, berks would be my personal choice!
On a side note how are you liking the R2C intake btw?

Hey sorry to ask this but isn't there a process on here for reflashing the ECU that we can do instead of Uprev? I am getting ready to install the Berk's and would hate to see the CEL and then have to wait to have the CEL reset.

I was gonna say, you shouldn't have any issues with Berks, those and FI are some of the best quality cats I've heard of. I just got my Berks delivered last night and will be putting them on next week. Hopefully the intake will help diminish any sounds of rasp....otherwise I'll be getting an exhaust much sooner than expected
You will not have a CEL unless you mess up one of the sensors with Berk.
Uprev tuning of the ECU changes the mapping of the engine and will actually allow you to gain more power and can change the Air to Fuel Ratio (AFR). If you did just a reflash it would help everything work together better, but not necessarily a way to gain extra power and make sure the engine is running at its optimum level. Only with an Uprev (tune) can you gain an extra 15 to 20 hp depending on the mods you have. I mean 15 to 20 on top of the gains you get from your mods.
