Definition of Sport Luxury Sedan?

I was having a debate with a friend over what luxury sedans are considered luxury sport.

My friend believes his 2008 BMW 528i with the Inline 6 non turbo engine automatic tranny is sporty. I told him that is just a luxury car.

We have different opinions on the term "Luxury Sport" vs. "Luxury" vs. "EconoBox".

So what is everyones opinion on this? When do the lines blur between the classes?

Thanks

"sport" could mean lots of things... but i would say... any car that has a significantly different look and some performance benifits over the standard version.

ie.
different bumpers
suspension
lsd
factory engine mods

oh... and you can't forget the red S or R at the end of the model emblem... thats the most important part.

hm...that's a very good question! lines are most certainly blurred often. bmw's are ALL performance oriented. the 5-series only re-enforces the luxury aspect of it. put them together and you have a sports luxury vehicle...

LOL shotty answer, i know...but that's all i got

Most sedans these days are marketed as sports. Ever since the Maximas debuted, they were labeled as "Four-Door Sports Car". Pretty much every sedan you see on a street is based on a sports/sporty design and feel.

Aside from the 7 series, all BMW sedans are labeled as Sport Sedans.

Examples:

Sport Sedans: Nissan Maxima, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Mazda 3/6, Hyundai Sonata, MB C350, BMW 3-Series, Audi A4

Luxury Sport Sedans: Lexus IS, Infiniti G, BMW 5-Series, MB E-Class, Cadillac CTS, Volvo S60, Audi A6

Luxury Sedans: Lexus LS, Infiniti M, BMW 7-Series, MB S-Class, Hyundai Genesis, Cadillac STS, Audi A8

High Performance Luxury Sport: BMW M3/5, MB AMG, Audi S, Lexus IS-F, Cadillac-V, Porsche-Turbo, Jaguar-R

You get the point... lol

Who is arguing that a BMW 528i is a luxury "sports" car? WTF have they even driven one? You've got to be kidding! What a dog. An M5 - definitely. 528 - not even close.

528 is luxury for sure. The only 5 series bwms I consider sport are the new 550is and the M5 of course.

I also consider the G37 luxury and the G37S luxury/sport mainly because of the paddle shifters and the sport seats etc.
