I wouldn't buy one now if I were you. The next version is going to have 408hp, get 30 mpg in the city, and the base price is going to be $27,900.

We should definitely not take seriously any further posts on this thread until April 2. Including this one.

Don't the new models typically come out in Oct-Dec? You would at least get to drive the new one six months or so...

There will always be a newer model coming out. Heck, I bought my 2009 in late 2009 knowing the '10s were coming out in a few weeks. I still love it.

The newest M started having some little snippet-books (for lack of a better term) about 5 months prior to being on dealer lots. When we got our 09 the dealer gave me one of the booklets and told me to "keep it quiet", not sure if he was joking or not, lol. I know the last Ms on the lot at teh time were already being marked way down. I'm sure when the next gen comes out there will be ample quantities of 2012s still available, and probably at steep discounts if you're not liking the new design.

I'd seriously doubt the hp numbers will go down unless gas is locked in at $5/gal with no help in sight

I wouldn't buy first year model cars anyway because they tend to have bugs and whatnot. So if the new gen is out next year, you'd have to wait another year. Just something to think about.

I have no idea of what you mean by "snippet-books", but the release of a completely new model like the M is a perfect example of how Infiniti has kept the final images out of the public eye. You certainly won't see any spy photos of the next G unless the company plans it.

And dealers do get advance info, but since the '09 was simply a continuation of the V36 series, there's really not much to show. But back on topic, the current model is such a gorgeous and solid car, there's little reason to hold off buying if you need a vehicle now.

When dealing with the last year of a model, I'd always want to wait and see if the new G is on the desire list before I make a decision. Then again newer isn't always better, there's plenty of evidence to that as mentioned, still it's better to operate with intelligence than without.

I'd wait, just to see what it has to offer. If you don't like it, you can get a 2011 at a good discount.

It was just a little pocket sized booklet w/ a few pages of photos and some vague info. What I was saying is there should be enough lead time
that you'd still be able to get a new current G prior to the official launch of the next gen. Prior to the actual launch date there will be enough info to make your own opinion. I don't think there's ever been a new vehicle launch that caught everyone by surprize and w/ all the internet auto sites someone somewhere will spill the beans

I wonder if the unfortunate situation(s) in Japan will change the car makers schedules for the next year to 2 years?

Direct injection ftw. And less wheel gap/better handling xs! More like BMW.
