Prospective Buyer QUESTION! please help
Soo....I am getting rid of the Bimmer (2007 335i Coupe) and I want to jump into a g37 Sedan
I need some help from some of you forum gurus...what are typical issues with this vehicle (if any) or what problematic issues should I be aware of before I purchase/lease this car.
for example :
1) I had a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and one of the weakpoints in that car was the Clutch.
2) With my BMW 335i they are known for having HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) issues & their water pumps go after about 60,000 miles.
Anything like that ^^^ should I know before I decide to get the Infiniti? I have searched and haven't come up with anything solid...

I'm going to say the 2 most common things that people here complain about are:
1) seat bubbling
2) transmission shifting rough (if you get the 7AT), which is easily remedied by a reflash.
From what I've heard/seen, nothing major related to the engine or the drivetrain.

There are no major issues that will cost you a lot of money down the road.
You will definitely want to test drive the 6MT before you buy. The clutch has a really short friction point which is exacerbated by the spring on the return. You'll get used to it though, just a little annoying at first.
Honestly, the seat bubbling is more noticeable in the car because of its tight, clean leather, but it's not any worse than most cars I've seen (mine doesn't have it... yet).

Be sure to get a clearbra for the hood, the paint is very fragile IME, definately an Inifiniti weak point compared to your Bimmer. I've gotten used to the 7at so it's not a major problem for me. If you're getting an auto I'd give it a long test drive just so you won't be surprised by some of the "quirks". From all I've heard the 2011s seem to be better in that regard.
I've had my 2010 G37 sedan for a year and have put 9,000 miles on it with no problems.
I thought about the 335i, but I had a 540i, a few cars back, that was always in the shop. Everything was always taken care of under the warranty, but it still got very old having to continuously bring it in for one repair or another.

Paint is definitely not very durable. A clear-bra is a must. Get the whole hood if you plan to make it a daily driver.
The brake rotors wear unevenly, at least on the 09s they did. I'm not sure if the newer ones have this problem.
That was the only problem I have had in 2 years and 50K miles. Infiniti took care of them under warranty. I was surprised because I was over 40K miles when I got around to taking it in.

I just came from an 08 Evo X MR, and I must say a few things.
-Paint is more durable than the Evo. Mitsu paint SUCKS!
-The Infiniti is a far better car (at least, so far)
-I have heard people in the Evo community complain about the clutch on the G37. But then again, these are the same people blowing out clutches in their Evo.
-The 7AT is great, but I have the hard shifting problems. I will have the dealer do the flash.
-The Infiniti is slower in every aspect. But it's worth it to me, and still PLENTY fast.
-Mitsubishi hates Evo owners. They don't care about you, and they don't care about your car. They look at every evo owner as if they modded every part in the car. I never did anything to my car, but had to threaten to sue mitsubishi to get warranty issues fixed.
