Quite a few were destroyed by the tsunami and burned:

Factories were closed for a bit and there are issues with their parts suppliers.

I'm not sure they have a choice. Not this time.

Depends.... Can Japan keep up with the demand? If there is demand for a car and low supply, a dealer can charge more for it.

Hate to say it, but I'm glad I already got mine.

There is a lot of competition is the luxury sport car segment if they increase price demand for their product will drop.

I'm sure they know this.

Then again, if all the manufacturers raise their prices less people will be driving luxury cars

Not necessarily -- you can't lease a BMW 328 or 335 coupe for the figures that our G37 coupes are leasing, which we already have a shortage of specific models (i.e.-- g37x coupe awd with nav/sport )

I can tell you that, with the Penfed buying service, the prices are for sure not going up. I can get a Journey with upgraded 18" wheels and premium for 6048k off MSRP. 32877 to be exact in my local area. It is a 'certified lowest national price'

That's 1k cheaper than I bought my regular 'ol non-premium, 17"-wheeled Journey for in 2009.

I don't see Infiniti dealerships marking up new cars due to this happening as there is a strong 2nd market for used G37's with low miles for those who really want one. High-turnover dealerships may start hurting for new inventory though.

Unless the plant was close to the reactors having issues, there isn't going to be an issue with radiation.

Relax folks, unless they use the metal bombarded by neutrons or highly bombarded metal by strong gamma photons to build the car there is no chance of a radioactive car.

There is a chance of some contamination settling on the cars but that can be washed off very easily.

RadioIodine has a very short half life which is a good thing which will further reduce the contamination threat.

Cesium and stronium are different however due to the energy levels very easy to detect so again very little chance of the contamination being passed on to customers...

The miss information in the media is astounding !

Here's an interesting one: the Japanese earthquake will cause Ford to stop building black cars for a week.
