Seriously. Considering how devastating this quake was. It really is a miracle the death toll is surprisingly low.

I have feeling Nissan will do what Mazda did when their cars were damaged coming to the states.

Oh well, at least it's 2300 replaceble vehicles, not 2300 lives. They should have insurance on these vehicles I hope, but that's a lot of money. At $50,000 / vehicle, it's $50,000 x 2,300 = $115,000,000.

 

Yeah, vehicles are no big deal. The country is absolutely ruined. It's so heartbreaking.

First of all.......cars are material objects with a measured price and they are replaceable pieces of metal. People are not. I'm not a super spiritual person, but during times like this my heart goes out to the Japanese people. After looking at the pic from earlier in this post, I remember seeing this one....... Look close, it looks like a bunch of G sedan's and a few G coupes and verts at Hitachi Port......that were burned after the quake....so a moment of silence for the people of japan...

 

I feel sorry for Japan.. So many people have to go through lots of *****.

 

Agreed. Can't imagine the devastation. I've watched several videos on CNN, youtube, etc. of the water levels just rolling through towns knocking down buildings and just washing away driver's in their cars. It was unimaginable.

...hate to say it, specially with many of you from the area, but I could only imagine it being a matter of time 'till something similar happens in California. Scary.

 

The authorities are low-balling. There are still more than 10,000 people missing. Whole villages just swept away.

This horrendous tragedy really puts things into perspective. Feel really embarassed complaining about my hood chips and higher gas prices right now. That poor country and those people caught up in such a massive force no one could ever prepare for. Very sad seeing all those beautiful cars destroyed, but the country, and the families affected are really what's important. I share in their sadness & hope for all those missing, but can't begin to imagine what they've gone through

 

If I remember correctly, Mazda had bunch of Mazda 3s on a boat on the way to the states, and the boat tipped (not completely over). Although no car was submerged in sea water, Mazda was afraid that there might've been damage from either salt in the air or from sitting on an angle for an extended period of time (something to do with fluid?). So they ended up popping the air bags in them, destroyed them and recycled them.

Many people contacted Mazda to try to get these cars for cheap but Mazda said no. It wasn't that much of a big deal financially since it was insured.

what about all the people forget the cars.
maybe we can someone get thoose seat bubbles fixed. Looks like a ton of g's for scrap.
what a waste, I remember when nissan lost an entire vessel filled with nissan's.
my sister had a car on order that went down with the ship.
took 2 months to get her car.
this is way worse,not to mention higher costs.
