G37 Police Package

When October comes around I will be a part of the Volunteer Firefighter company and part of the thing is that you are allowed blue lights. After some price quoting Whelen is FAR too expensive as I'm going to put a Lightbar in the front windshield as well as a traffic advisor in the back. So i decided to create my own, a CNC machine is going to drill out the PCB board and I've ordered 1W 10mm LED's which are ridiculously bright!!! Its going to be a FULL stealth install so you really wont see the lights unless their on, regardless should I be looking to upgrade the cars batter? As of now I have the subwoofer in the back and I;m afraid the alternator will be stressed with the lights and sub running.

Getting a better battery would not be a bad idea since u ll be using a decent amount more power.

I built Crown Vic police cruisers from scratch for the PD. From scratch I mean I would wire them, create my own relay boards, wire everything (mostly whelen). If you are just adding a LED bar or two, I wouldn't worry about it. The draw from the newer LED stuff is very low.

...I don't recommend building your own bar though. You can find used stuff on the net and EBAY for fairly cheap. If you send me a PM with what your looking for, I also have some things I could get you.

LED don't draw much power. Go to Whelen, Federal Signal, Able 2, Sho Me, 911ep, Axixtech - Strobes N' More. They have great prices on LED's.

really? your going to ricky ranger your G?
don't know what state your in but some require state permits, also check with your insurance company.. You will be operating your vehicle as a emergency vehicle and if you get in a collision they may not cover it. Blue lights still mean you have to operate with due care

i've seen volunteer members on acurazine do the same. thanks for doing what you do op!
anyways, check out braille batteries. they're lightweight and throw a good punch. unfortunately, i've heard around that optima batteries mostly have gone down the drain after new management. good luck!

Insurance will never know...

No one at the station actually tells their insurance as the rates would SKYROCKET, and were given a blue light permit which allows us to use the lights, I'll probably get an amber one as well to throw in some more colors!

I would highly advise against building your own....I could PM you a place that distributes Whelen for cheap if you want. I only have the single talon on my G37 now.

Here's my old setup....also had two smaller LED's in the back deck too. I know it looks strange in the front, but it helps by me especially getting through intersections.

Wonder if/how wig-wags would work with the HIDs or whether they'd have to be wired to the fogs

I'm thinking wig wags & HIDs will NOT work. Powering on and off the ballast that fast is asking for a disaster. Probably OK in the fogs. ..or just put LED strobes in either or both.
