When are invoice prices typically released?

I am trying to decide on a 2011 G37S 6mt sedan and negotiate the purchase price before the car get to the dealer but it's difficult without invoice pricing.

Right now I am assuming $1600 for the standard/mandatory NAV and the $150 price bump would put the 2011 invoice at $36,810 but I want to have everything printed out before I step into the dealership. I will also be using zag/AMEX as a starting point in pricing as well.

why don't you just get a 2010 sedan for a good price? what's the difference between a 2010 and 2011 sedan?

tried everywhere but wasn't anything closer than 8 hours and I didn't want to buy sight unseen. one dealer a couple hours away said they could get one but added a $900 'delivery' charge so I rather just get the 2011.

The only difference between the 2010 and the 2011 is that the S has the NAV as standard.

you can probably negotiate on that delivery charge. if they really want your business, they'll get the car to you. wouldn't hurt to try if you could save a few thousand.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get a 2010 last week. I'm in Atlanta and even here they were running out of them at like the 5 Infiniti dealerships! Hard to find the one exactly how you like it.

So called "invoice" price isn't truly dealer's invoice price. The prices shown at Edmunds are provided by dealers! Even at "invoice" price, dealers make profit. I bought my G37x $2500 below "invoice".

you paid 2500 below invoice price because you included any other incentives or rebates. edmunds tells you those too, so you can subtract those from the invoice price.

At the time I bought my car, the only incentive in effect was $1K manufacturer to dealer for new financing, but I paid cash. I just checked Edmunds, and it shows 2010 G37 MSRP as $39K, invoice $36K, with $1K cash back to dealer. At JBA Infiniti where I bought my car, they are selling G37 at no haggle sale price $35K. If the Edmunds "invoice" price is the true invoice price, that means JBA Infiniti is making no money selling G37 at $35K, including incentives. No business is going to sell at cost because they need to pay employees, bills, etc. The true invoice price is lower than Edmunds "invoice" price.

There are multiple "invoice" prices. Dealer invoice, factory invoice, etc.

there are dealer hold backs (trunk money) that are not advertised. if they really want to sell the car, they will include those in the price, but generally won't tell you about it. this way, you think you are getting a fanstastic deal because you paid below invoice.

I used the internet to get a price. Most offers started at invoice (Edmunds etc.) less cash back offers. Everyone has to make a dollar to stay in business.
Competition is hard today and dealers know it. I let the dealers negociate for my business between each other. I don't know what cards are in their hands to negociate well with them. ;-)
When shopping price, I also considered dealer reputation, location and "personality". I think you'll love the car!
