I was at a dealership today and drove a new 37x sedan. The ride was awesome and I plan to buy one in the next couple of weeks. I was planning on the 37xs which was loaded sitting in the showroom. The one I drove was an x though, without the sport package. I liked the way the sport looked and liked the way the seat felt as well. I did not drive one with the sport seat though. I have heard mixed reviews of the sport seats and it seems to be one of very few complaints which I have heard surrounding this vehicle. Any thoughts on the seats would be greatly appreciated, as would any other insight on what are options that I should buy or have omitted. Thanks!!

The sport seats took some getting used to, but I really like them now. I'm glad I got the xS...

 

I have the 37x. I regret I didn't get the 37xS. Go for it! Or you will regret like I do.

the sport is so much more than just the seats. (assuming the G37xs and the G37s get the same upgrades) you get the better brakes, seats, steering wheel, upgraded rear end and a few more things that i cant remember off the top of my head. in my opinion the brakes alone were worth the price to step from the G37 to the G37s for me.

 

I had the sport package in my '07 and my current '10, I love the sport seats

 

The brakes in the G37x and G37xs sedan are identical and there is no "upgraded rear end". The only difference in the steering wheel is the stitching.

Specifically the sport package in the G37xs sedan gives you:
- split 5-spoke, 18 x 7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/50R18 V-rated all-season performance tires (front and rear)
- "sport" front fascia
- "sport" side sills
- front "sport" seats with manual thigh extensions, and driver's power torso and thigh support adjustment
- solid magnesium paddle shifters on the steering wheel
- aluminum sport pedals
- unique steering wheel stitching

 

I have said this before, and I will admit there is nothing formal documenting this, but there is a difference in the steering responsiveness of the x and the xS. I had an 08 G35x and now a '10 37xS. It feels lighter and more responsive. It took me a while to get used to the new set up. I am not trying to start an argument, or looking for quotes from the manual, just saying what I personally observed, from 2 years of the G35x. Some have suggested that maybe its the 18s, no clue

If planning on getting the G, start with the X, then move on to the xS, then the IPL

 

You are correct, there is a difference between a 08 g35x and a 10 37xS. But you are comparing apples to oranges. Like the quote above, there is no "performance" (steering response or brakes etc..) differences between a 10 37xS and a 10 37x. The differences are in the 10 37S 6MT which has the upgraded brakes and steering response.

No matter which one you decide to purchase, you cant go wrong. I ended up buying a 10 37xS after my 08 g35xS was totalled and its an amazing car. I picked 1037xS over the x because the dealership gave me a very good deal on it, and the extras especially the sport seats and the front fascia (i personally think it makes it look so much better than the x) was worth the extra cash. I just wish i could have got my old 08 35xS wheels over the new wheels

 

This then assumes there were additional changes made other than engine displacement and the automatic transmission btwn the 07s and the 09s, which I doubt. (Dont think its an apples and oranges comparison, an 03 sedan and an 07 sedan would be apples and oranges in my view, not 07&08 vs 09&10)

Just to add, the 2011 xS will have the upgraded brakes as on the 37S

 

IMHO it depends on how big your body frame is the sport seat feel great to me but I am not a 200lb guy. The thigh supports were the closer for me as they really feel great for long distance rides. Finally, your preference as to the sport front end and wheels. Personally, I like them both the larger wheels seem to change the proportions quite a bit.

 

Get the G37xS the Sport really makes a difference in both Appearance and Comfort.

 

Bear in mind that the xS is really a compromise between the x and the S: the xS doesn't have the regular S's suspension. This was obvious to me when I test-drove the two of them a week ago, and I ended up getting the S (without the x) as a result. On the other hand, if you live where it snows, the x will come in handy, whether or not coupled with the other features of the S.

 

I went from an '07 G35S to a '10 G37xS and in general, it's a very similar car. I don't track the thing, or push it that hard on regular roads. I can definitely feel the extra weight cornering harder through a turn than I did with the '07 G35S and suspension doesn't feel quite as hard as it did before (although there were debates as to whether the G35S had a different suspension or not without the 4wheel steering).

There's one main thing I was looking for in the S package, the paddle shifters That's really useful when driving and passing in traffic.
