Just ordered my G37S sedan 6mt, smokey quartz. I'm looking at exhaust systems and can't make up my mind. I've listened to hundreds of videos on youtube, but find it difficult to be accurate. One video, FI sounds great, deep, not too loud, next video, same exhaust system loud and raspy. I like the deep idle, love that ripping metal sound when revved, but don't want it to be loud when just cruising. Give me your opinions, Stillen, FI, or any other system you know of, can't find many. Also, anybody do an exhaust cutout, and keep it stock otherwise??

 

LOVE my FI system. Not loud at all when cruising.

 

I'm sure I'm probably in the minority, but my stillen sounds perfect for me. Depending on your taste, it might not be loud enough. I was looking for the stock coupe sound or a tad louder and got what I wanted. YMMV.

 

Thats what I'm looking for, coupe or a tad louder. Thanks for your input, think I'm going with the Stillen.

 

If you want factory sound but just louder go for HFC's

 

It's always better to listen to an actual installed system. Maybe there is a local meet you can go to?

Alone, you will have some rasp and be slightly louder on the sedan. The stock exhaust on the sedan is very restrictive. The pipes to the mufflers aren't even 2.25" I don't think. I was pretty damn surprised when I saw them after I had my Fast Intentions system installed.

 

Fast Intentions is quiet while crusing. As the site says, "This system simply enhances the original sound of the car by making it deeper, smoother, and louder." This statement is true. Not too loud, but commanding. I have the FI High Flo Cats =HFC-also and my car sounds like a former business associates Austin Martin DB9.

 

FI has no rasp at all.... some of the raspy ones you may have heard might have been with HFC installed. my system doesnt have any rasp at all. I absolutely love it.

 

I love my HKS setup. Very aggressive looking and it sounds great. No highway drone and a very deep sound when opened up under full throttle.

I have the Stillen CB and love it! Gives an awesome deep growl but quiet when cruising. Fitment is perfect as well so no issues there. Would def find someone close to you that has installed an exhaust and go listen. I've heard some that sound like crap and others that sound just different. All depends on what pleases YOUR ear and how light you want your wallet to be after. FI and Borla sound very good as well IMO. GL with your search and congrats on the G.

Leaning towards the Stillen. Do the stillen tips have stillen written on the sides of the tip? If anybody in South Jersey has either FI or Stillen on a sedan I'd love to hear it, especially w/o HFC's. The HFC's sound to raspy for my taste.
Still waiting for my actual car.....was told it would be here last week, then the dealer said it was held up in customs and/or the port. Now I'm told by 7/30/10, we'll see. Seriously losing sleep over it, can't stop daydreaming.....need sleep.
