Help me decide RWD vs AWD?
Help me decide RWD vs AWD?
Currently i own fx35 2010 awd with nav and premium black on black. My gf is getting g soon,so we stuck whether she should get awd or rwd?
Gonna buy with nav and premium and sport for sure sedan black on black.
If we buy rwd then sport package will come with upgraded suspension as well as bigger brakes and etc.
If we buy awd with sport package, only paddle shifters and pedal and seats are added,no bigger brakes.
How is rwd in bad weather vs awd ?
How much would is the reasonable price cash to pay? What is the cheapest dealer in the country to buy new infiniti from?
Thanks. Any inputs appreciated !

I have a RWD and I live in the northeast. Use the car last year in every storm except the first one which happened over the weekend. My G37 and my Blizzak LM-60 had no issues at all.
Previous winter I had my 08 G35xS and the RWD G with the winter tires was easier to drive in the snow than the all-wheel drive with the stock all-seasons.
If it snows where you live put winter tires on your car. Winter tires perform with out a doubt better than the best all-season tires made. Just the improve braking performance alone is worth it. But you car will also steer, drive and handle better.

Lease ended on my 07 G35S. and got into 10 G37X. Came from CA to NJ and it was a nightmare driving RWD this past winter, but only had all season tires on. With that being said, you know your moving to WA, then go with the RWD.

I live in MI and I've had RWD for the past 10 years, all you need is snow tires and some patience. The AWD is only useful for the 3-4 months of winter, then you pay the gas mileage penalty and fun handling dynamics for the rest of the year.
Then again, if my wife was driving my G in the snow even with snow tires, I wouldn't trust her.

You lose 1MPG on the highway.
As for the handling dynamics, I doubt most people would really notice the difference in the steering, brakes or suspension. Unless of course they planned to take it to a track. Plus don't forget that Nissan makes the GT-R with this AWD system.
For me, if the car is going to be an everyday driver AWD makes more sense. If you want to take it to the track then the G37S probably makes more sense. If you plan to mod the heck out of it, you probably want a Journey.
My previous two cards were a RWD Lexus IS300 and a RWD '07 G35S. I live in Minnesota, so we get considerably more snow than Seattle, but maybe less black ice.
With snow tires, both were great vehicles in the snow and even on ice.
I wouldn't hesitate to get RWD again.
That said, this time around, I got a '10 G37xS (which got 28mpg on a road trip this weekend, best I ever got in the '07 was about 25-26). I mainly did it because my commute is longer to work, and the ATTESA system on the G is a good combination of both worlds. I also am planning on getting 17's for the winter with snow tires still
Seattle doesn't get much snow, but:
1) when it does, it's a bitch, so if you HAVE to be out in about, it sucks
2) it does get alot of black ice and just ice in general
The winter weather in seattle though varies enough to be warm enough that I'm not sure how long you'd want to have snows on them for RWD.
So if you can avoid driving when it's ****ty, I'd go RWD. If you can't, then I'd consider AWD.
As far as those saying you have an SUV why would you drive the G, remember guys, the OP stated HE has an FX, and it's his GF looking at the G. I don't know about you guys, but my wife and I drive completely separately on separate schedules.

Here in Chicago they didnt even have rwd on the 2 infiniti dealer lots i looked at. My wife and i both drive the car and and the kids are in tow on the weekends. snow is really bad here. If i was the only one driving the car and i lived in an area without snow and not too much rain, i would opt for the g37S with the big tires, breaks and tuned suspension
. I needed the awd in my situation here with my wife driving and the kids in the back seat. its definitly reassuring to have the awd while driving in the rain too. lots of fun launching on the wet pavement.
