Just got my g37x! :). Have questions

Hi everyone,

I just got an all black g37x. I can't wait to break it in to see what it can do.

I have two questions so far: What mpg do you'll observe with your g37x's? I just did my first 40 miles with about evenly split city vs. highway driving and about 30 minutes of idling in total and did 15.5 mpg :/.

The second question is: Does anyone observe a whistle when driving at 40+ mph? I made sure that all of the windows and the moon roof were closed. There is nothing dangling off the roof or anywhere else (at least that I could see). To hear it I need to turn the music off. It sounds as if the noise is coming from the mid-rear of the car, but it is hard to tell. Is this something normal or should I ask my dealer about it?

Hmmm, no whistle. Have you tried opening and closing all of the windows and sun roof to see if it might just be something with the seal on one of them that might be easily corrected?

I just got mine this past weekend and for the first few miles my MPG was 4.4 !!!!!! You'll likely get better mileage as the engine breaks in a bit.

My 08Gx got about 17 MPG all of the time. Mostly suburban roads (35-50 MPH) and I'm only about 5 mins from my office so I don't think I even have time for the engine to warm up. Highway I would get about 20-22 MPG depending on traffic, cruise control, etc.

From what I'm hearing, I am only expecting an extra MPG or so on each with the G37x.

There is a whole thread about MPG if you do a search (there's probably a bunch of em ).

Enjoy your new ride - black is an awesome color!!

I just got back from a 4,000 mile trip and got 28 mpg, driving 75 to 80 with the air on. The car was loaded down with luggage in trunk and back seat, plus my wife and dog.
It now has 6,000 miles . No wind noises, rattles, etc.
Zero problems.
It is not suppose to be good for the G engine to leave it idle excessively, per the manual.

The day I bought it I noticed a slight wind noise, while driving it home on the Interstate. It sounded like it was coming from one of the rear windows. I haven't heard that since then. Maybe one of the windows hadn't closed tightly.

I had some wind whistle noise, especially when I drove on very smooth and quite freeways at over 75 mph. It came from the rear right window.

Took it to my dealership, had a road test with a tech in my car. Eventually he pointed it out the problem was the rear right window quart panel(the smaller part of the window).

They changed the panel, and problem was solved. The tech did mention wind noise happened a lot more with prior year Gs, not 2010 G.

hope this helps.

Well I don't have an X model, but the first tank of gas got me 23.4mpg with about 90% highway driving. Very impressed so far, and I'm assuming once the engine breaks in my mpg will increase to at least 24mpg with my driving style (80% hwy, 20% city).

Got mine last Saturday and no whistle sounds to speak of.

No whistle... and gas mileage isn't all that great... yours will improve a little bit after the first few oil changes. I average 18ish with mixed city/highway/aggressive driving.

The mileage will definitely start improving after you get some mileage on the motor. I also had low mileage 15-16mpg coty when I first got the car, but it's up to around 18-19mpg city right now. I've seen 26-27mpg on a 2.5hr highway trip. All in all pretty good for only 4500miles.

I have the X and mileage increased after 2000 miles. the motor was really tight at first. If you are really into mileage and want to compare go to truedelta.com and check mileage and reliability reports from members, great site

Corrections . . .

Ok, took my first highway drive since getting the car a week ago.

1. MPG was a pretty good 22 - 23 MPG. Not bad considering a tad higher than the speed limit and only 200 miles on the car.

2. I DID get the whistling noise damnit!!!!! If I had to put money on it, I would think it is the rear fixed part of the passenger side rear window like a previous posted mentioned was replaced on their G. Darn!! Bugged the heck outta me the whole trip.

I have to go back in for my splash guard install so I'm going to have them look at it then.

Sorry man - you are NOT alone!!

37x average 19.8 mpg... only 1200 miles so I'm still babying it...as much as I was told by infiniti no need to break in modern new cars...I haven't really delivered a beat down yet. 60/40 city/hwy driving between work and home. I think best we can expect is 20+/- 1mpg.

Congrats on the new car
I'm at almost 3K. I can't say that the MPG has improved a whole lot since the beginning, only by 1mpg maybe, but it's something.
A word of advice.. when you go to the dealership to repair whistles, rattles, or whatever else, tell them not to wash your car. Your black G has a very fragile paint job and has special needs

BLKG37X: You ain't Kidding..... Show the slightest swirls, marks , etc. But I love it in Black. My 07 was in Black too. Was tempted with Smokey Quartz, and the dark greyish color[forgot the name], but I didn't want a Black interior. To Freakin Hot. Love the Wheat with the Maple wood. Good Luck to all with your new Gs......
